💜 Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of connecting with artists of all abilities, celebrating their unique talents, and sharing the incredible artistry that shines through diversity. This 1 & 2 Dec, Esplanade’s Come Together programmes at the Concourse hold even greater meaning as part of SG Enable’s Enabling Lives Festival. These performances celebrate the artistry of artists with disabilities, highlighting the importance of accessibility and inclusion in the arts. On 1 Dec, join Lily Goh & Friends for Embers of Hope: The Little Match Girl Reimagined, a tender reimagining of a beloved tale, performed in both Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) and English. On 2 Dec, be part of This Ability Through Music, as Faith Music Centre’s VIB Band and The Azalea Band light up the evening with timeless classics and crowd favorites. As Esplanade continues its journey towards greater accessibility, we’re honored to work with and present artists of different abilities, supporting SG Enable’s vision of building a more inclusive society. 🏅 Congratulations to film director Garin Nugroho and the team behind Samsara on their wins at the recent Citra Awards during the Indonesian Film Festival Inc.! The team took home four awards for Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Original Music and Best Costume Design. Samsara – A Cine-Concert was commissioned by Esplanade for Pesta Raya – Malay Festival of Arts 2024 and premiered in our Concert Hall in May this year to much acclaim. We’re excited for the audience in Perth to experience the work when it tours to Perth Festival 2025 in February! One Day We’ll Understand 有那么一天—an Esplanade Commission for The Studios 2024—is set to take the stage in Australia! In February 2025, this work will make its Australian debut as part of Asia Topa. Since its Singapore premiere, it’s been heartening to see this production take off beyond our shores. We hope audiences in Australia connect with its reflections on memory, loss, trauma, restitution, and repair. This piece is the creation of Singaporean visual artist Chi Yin Sim, produced by CultureLink Singapore in partnership with Chamber Made. In October 2024, we celebrated 22 years as Singapore's national performing arts centre! From the outset, we were given the nickname 'Durian' thanks to our iconic spiky cladding of the twin domes, which we embraced wholeheartedly with #mydurian. While our audiences have grown over the years, there are still many who have yet to step foot in Esplanade. As an arts centre for everyone, we continue to encourage more people to encounter and experience the arts. And so, since our our twin shells are already well known, we wanted to turn our focus to conveying the Esplanade experience in the flesh with #WonderHere. Through the arts, everyday moments can become sources of inspiration and wonder. The arts can spark new ideas, help you see the world through fresh eyes. And through the arts, we can laugh and cry, gather and share in the power of human connections—all of which remind us we are not alone. As part of Kalaa Utsavam 2024 – a festival celebrating Indian arts and culture – 18 migrant workers and 2 IRR volunteers were invited by The Esplanade Co Ltd to enjoy the incredible Rhythms of Chennai: A New Era of Indie Music performance on 16 November! 🎤🎸 It was a night full of fun, good music, and wonderful vibes, where our migrant brothers enjoyed an evening with friends, surrounded by the vibrant sounds of South India's indie music scene. Featuring an amazing line-up of Super Singer alumni, the stage was alive with distinctive talent and creativity! ✨🎶 A huge thank you to the Esplanade for making this special experience possible!
