The couple coordinated tribute posts on social media Thursday — both shared a romantic photos from their 2002 nuptials as well as more recent photos. In the vintage-looking image from their wedding shows Prinze kissing the hand of Gellar, who wore a strapless gown accented by a simple bun for the special day. The 45-year-old Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum dropped several photos of Prinze, 46, on her Instagram Story. In one, the actor has his arm around her as she looks up at him lovingly. "So you're going to marry Sarah Michelle Gellar, even though you know that won't last?" asked the shock jock. "Oh, absolutely it will last," Prinze replied. On Thursday, Gellar tagged Stern, 68 and asked "What do you think? I think you owe us." The She's All That star shared his wife's posts on his Instagram Story, adding, "She will not forget," over the photos of Stern, with a trio of crying-laughing emojis. When news outlets and friends reminded her of the day, she wrote on Instagram last Sept. 1: "I honestly thought it was tomorrow." She added, "Happy anniversary @realfreddieprinze today, tomorrow and any day after that I think might be our anniversary in the future." Prinze teased her right back in the comments, writing, "I'm sticking with tomorrow. I don't care what they said." They told PEOPLE in March 2021 that they had been friends for a while before going on a dinner date together, and the dynamic of their relationship shifted after that evening. "We've had many dinners before. We were supposed to go with someone else, and the third person didn't make it out, and we decided to still go," Gellar said. "We were just two people at dinner catching up. We had a long car ride and a long dinner, and things just happened." Prinze added that he didn't want to be with anyone else after that night. "I didn't go on dates with other girls, nor did I even want to pursue dates with other girls," he said. "One day, I just knew we're going to get married and that I was going to propose.
