The pop star, 25, earned her first Billboard No. 1 after releasing her sixth studio album Short n' Sweet on Aug. 23. Carpenter's latest LP debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart, earning the equivalent of 362,000 album units and besting Travis Scott's first official release of his 2014 mixtape Days Before Rodeo, which came in at No. 2, per Luminate via Billboard. Short n' Sweet is 2024's third-largest debut overall, with Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter (407,000 units) and Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department (2.61 million units) claiming the top two spots, per Variety. Marcelo Endelli/TAS23/Getty Images for TAS Rights Management Sabrina Carpenter on the Viral Success of 'Espresso': 'I Just Love That People Get My Sense of Humor' News of the "Sharpest Tool" singer's chart domination comes just days after she made a sly comment that appeared to refer to Nicki Minaj's 2018 battle for the No. 1 spot when her album Queen went toe-to-toe with Scott's Astroworld. "this one's for nicki," Carpenter wrote on Thursday, Aug. 29 via X (formerly known as Twitter). Later that night, Minaj sent the Girl Meets World album love, saying, “Shout out Sabrina Carpenter, shout out all the Sabrina Carpenter fans.” Back in 2018, the "Barbie World" artist, 41, seemingly took issue with how Scott's tour and merch sales were incorporated into his chart numbers, claiming that Billboard wouldn't let her do the same. “Travis sold over 50K of these. With no requirement of redeeming the album,” she wrote on X. “With no dates for a tour, etc. I spoke to him. He knows he doesn’t have the #1 album this week.” Minaj also took aim at Scott's then-girlfriend Kylie Jenner, as well as Drake into her online tirade. Minaj added: "I put my blood sweat & tears in writing a dope album only for Travis Scott to have Kylie Jenner post a tour pass telling ppl to come see her & Stormi." During her online rant, the rapper also noted how women are often "systemically blackballed out of their positions" without being able to "fight back."
