Kate Hudson's 'Delicious and Sexy' Debut Single 'Talk About Love' Is Here — Listen

The actress released her first official song on Tuesday

Kate Hudson’s debut single has landed!

The actress-turned-singer’s first song “Talk About Love” has finally dropped after weeks of anticipation from fans, providing a burst of blended rock/pop sounds for listeners to enjoy.

In the song — co-written with Linda Perry and Hudson's fiancé Danny Fujikawa — the actress, 44, celebrates having a love connection at the deepest level possible while belting out vocals over columns of synth, guitars and a jumping rhythm track guaranteed to raise the mood.

“You only have one first single,” Hudson said of her musical debut in a press release. “And I wanted it to be something delicious and sexy and all the things that I believe in.”

“I wanted it to be open and seeking, searching to find something powerful. But I also wanted the music to be the rock, the pop, the dance music and even a bit of the alternative records I love,” she continued. “It was a lot to put into one song, but thankfully, I had some wonderful people working with me. And so, here we are!”

Hudson worked independently with producer Johan Carlsson and Fujikawa to form a fresh sound for the song that also felt natural to her. The collaboration developed into the makings of an album which the actress has teased will be released later this year

Ahead of her musical debut on Monday, Hudson posted a teaser clip on Instagram of her recording her new song in the studio as she spoke about remaining authentic in her music.

“I have always had a room for my piano ever since I began living on my own,” she said in the video.

“And I’ve been caught up writing and witnessing life in songs since I was a child. But, you know, it always comes down to the moment and the ability to make sure you can be there for the music. And that was really important to me. To have it come from that really authentic place and focus. So finally for me that time is now.”

Over 20 years after winning fans over in her Oscar-nominated role as rock muse Penny Lane in Almost Famous (2000), Hudson said on Tuesday “the timing was right” in finally releasing music now after waiting so long.

“How do you ever know?” the actress stated in the release. “And then one day, you’re writing, and you think, ‘Now.’ Linda challenged me to write a full album once she heard me sing and that’s when I decided to complete the song cycle.”

“It might’ve been crazy to some, but once I committed, all the songs, the sounds and even the way the recording process came together, the timing was right,” she added.

Hudson teased the release of her first single in an Instagram post on Jan. 17. The actress went on to post several clips on social media of her recording in the studio in the days leading up to the release of her first single on Tuesday.

In April 2022, Hudson first revealed her plans to record an album as she posted a photo of her singing in a rehearsal space.

"Finally realized it's time to say f#%! it and saaaannngg!!!!! #albumincoming #myikigai 🎶 🎤," the Fabletics co-founder wrote in the caption, seemingly referring to music as her "ikigai," aka a Japanese concept that translates to "reason for being" at the time.
