The Counting On star, 27, said dyeing her hair was a “stupid decision” after documenting the coloring process for the first time in an Instagram Reel posted on Tuesday, Oct. 29. “ ‘You only live once’ & ‘girls just want to have fun’ was behind this decision & then I quickly realized this was a stupid decision 😭🤣 LOL,” she captioned the post. The clip began with her showing off her natural hair while standing in a bathroom before mixing up the dye and saying, “This my before.” She was then joined by a friend who helped her with the process. “I cannot believe we’re doing this,” her friend said. In a following clip, Joy-Anna exclaimed, while zooming in on her face, "We're going all in." “Oh my goodness, we’re doing it,” she added, saying that she wanted to dye her hair "for a while." Her friend then reassured her that “if this ends up not being the color, we’ll fix it.” Joy-Anna later said while filming half her hair coated in deep red dye, “I’m probably going to go through regret and then I'm going to love it, or I'm going to hate it and then I'm going to go get it fixed,” adding with a nervous expression, “You only live once, right? Might as well just do it." Once the dyeing process was finished, Joy-Anna filmed herself looking at the side of her hair tied up in a bun in a bathroom mirror. “I’m a little bit nervous, I’ve never done anything like this before in my life, but I’m excited,” she said. Once her hair was blow-dried, Joy-Anna filmed herself standing with her friend in front of a mirror as she closed her eyes and counted down from three. She then opened her eyes and let out a small gasp before leaning forward with her hand covering her mouth. “Instant regret,” she wrote in a caption over the clip. “*Holding back tears*.” “It’s dark!” her friend said in the video, “It’s going to lighten with washes,” she added, trying to reassure Joy-Anna as they laughed, though tears started to fill her eyes.
