Joe Jonas Playfully Roasts His Flat-Ironed Hair Era: 'Least Favorite Hairdo'

Joe Jonas has gone through quite the hair evolution over the years, and even the pop star isn't a fan of all his looks.

On Tuesday, July 23, Jonas, 34, revealed to comedian Hannah Berner during an interview on TikTok that his "least favorite hairdo" was his 2008-era flat-ironed straight hair.

"There was a phase where I felt like I needed to flat-iron my hair," the "Work It Out" singer told Berner. When asked "who made you feel that way — was that society or your brothers or your manager or you?" Jonas quipped, "Just being a teen pop star."

As for how he achieved the look, the singer admitted that he didn't do the flat-ironing himself. "It took a team," he said, before joking, "Kevin was better at it than me."

Berner also asked the singer if he uses conditioner, to which he jokingly replied, "Just on the back," before clarifying, "I don't use conditioner. Every time I use conditioner I feel like it's so slick."

These days, Jonas is back to rocking his natural curls — although they're not quite as wild as they were when he was starting out in the music business. In a 2021 TikTok, he joked about being sad that he no longer had one of Hollywood's most recognizable hairstyles.

"So I just got a phone call if you want to even call it that. Basically, when I was 13 I had arguably one of the most recognizable heads of hair in the world at the time. Okay? So that's me at that point in time," he said.

Jonas continued, "And cut to now, I'm 29 and I just found out which is, can't be accurate, but I'm not even like in the top 50 most recognizable heads of hair. They're like, it's probably because you've changed it a few times. How is that possible?"

In May, Jonas attended the Cannes Film Festival wearing an all-white suit with a Western-style bow tie, which a fan account pointed out gave him a chic Colonel Sanders look. Rather than ignore the comparisons, he embraced the fact that he was giving off KFC mascot vibes by sharing the meme on his Instagram Stories.

Jonas is releasing his first solo album in 13 years, Music For People Who Believe in Love, on Friday, Oct. 18.
