If you’ve ever wished to visit some classic Christmas movie locations, you’re in luck. There are plenty of holiday movie landmarks around the world that you can check out in person. From Kevin McCallister’s house in 1990’s Home Alone (though a personal tour of Kevin’s traps inside isn’t an option — sorry!) to the charming and cozy village that neighbors some of the actual locales seen in 2006’s The Holiday, here are 11 places from beloved Christmas films you can witness for yourself in real life. 01 of 11 The House in Home Alone Redfin In the '90s Christmas classic Home Alone, the McCallisters’ unmistakable brick house is just like any other suburban residence — except for its place in film history, of course. The Winnetka, Ill., home — which is located at 671 Lincoln Avenue and sold for nearly $1.6 million in March 2012 — is private property and home to some lucky family. Even so, fans can still drive past it for a glimpse of the action — just don't linger too long, or you might be mistaken for a Wet Bandit. 02 of 11 The Hotel in Home Alone 2 The Plaza Hotel. George DeSota/Getty Although the suburban Chicago house in the first Home Alone was nice, nothing compares to The Plaza Hotel in New York City, where Kevin's luxury suite was the stuff of '90s childhood dreams. If the price tag scares you away from a full-on hotel stay, try tea at the Palm Court. 03 of 11 The House in A Christmas Story Kevin Longo You’ll be happy to know you catch a glimpse of the house where Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley) was once warned, "You'll shoot your eye out." The Cleveland house — located at 3159 West 11th Street in the city’s Tremont neighborhood — was once a museum dedicated to the 1983 holiday movie, where fans could check out original costumes, props and other memorabilia from the production (with the leg lamp proudly displayed in the street-facing window, of course). After hitting the market in November 2022, it was reported in October 2023 that an unknown buyer purchased the Christmas movie landmark for an undisclosed price. 04 of 11 The Office in Elf AP N.Y.C. is a whole new world for Will Ferrell’s Buddy the Elf in the 2003 Christmas comedy Elf, and when he visits his dad's office in the Empire State Building, he's right at the center of it. Luckily for fans of the movie — and countless tourists — the Empire State Building is open for visitors all year long (though you'll probably experience a longer wait than Buddy did). 05 of 11 The Town in It's a Wonderful Life David Duprey/AP While director Frank Capra never officially confirmed the inspiration for Bedford Falls, it's widely regarded that Seneca Falls, N.Y., is it. Even Karolyn Grimes, who starred in the film as Zuzu, one of George and Mary Bailey's children, believes it was. The town is so proud of its connection to the film that residents host an annual weekend-long event to celebrate its anniversary every December. 06 of 11 The Town in The Santa Clause Alamy Tim Allen's famed 1994 holiday film The Santa Clause may take place in a small Illinois town, but the real location is in Oakville, a suburb of Toronto. If you visit Oakville in real life, you can see the town's main drag, schools, houses and parks that appear in the movie. 07 of 11 The Village in The Holiday Alamy Sadly, Rosehill Cottage, the adorable little house Iris (Kate Winslet) calls home in The Holiday, isn't real. The facade was built for the film, and the inside was shot at a studio in Los Angeles. But the quaint nearby village Shere, in Surrey, England, is. You can even grab a pint at the White Horse, the local pub where Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Graham (Jude Law) went on a date. 08 of 11 Everything in Love Actually Steven Wong/Flickr Does any film scream Christmas quite like 2003’s Love Actually? And there are plenty of places to visit — all throughout London — for a real-life taste of the film. St. Luke's Mews in Notting Hill (pictured), where Mark (Andrew Lincoln) confessed his feelings for Juliet (Keira Knightley) in poster form, for one. You can shop at Selfridges on Oxford Street, where Harry (the late Alan Rickman) infamously bought a gift for his secretary, Mia. Or visit the world-famous 10 Downing Street, home to the dashing Prime Minister (Hugh Grant). And, of course, if you're looking to see love all around, head to the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. 09 of 11 The Store in Miracle on 34th Street Alamy There are a few versions of this Christmas classic, but it's only the 1947 original featuring the legendary Macy's department store on 34th Street in New York City. Visitors get bonus points if they wait in line to meet the one and only “real” Kris Kringle. 10 of 11 The Office in Scrooged The Seagram Building on Park Avenue in New York. Jeenah Moon/Bloomberg/Getty The glass-covered skyscraper from which snobbish TV exec Frank Cross (Bill Murray) looks down on N.Y.C. in the 1988 holiday flick is actually the Seagram Building, which towers above 375 Park Avenue between 52nd Street and 53rd Street in Midtown Manhattan. But don’t be a Grinch — lest you want the Ghost of Christmas Past (David Johansen) dangling you over its windows, too! As a bonus visiting location: A few blocks away is Rockefeller Center, where Frank passes by the gigantic Christmas tree. 11 of 11 The Slopes in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Breckenridge Ski Resort. Dan Leeth / Alamy You’ll want to throw on your best winter gear for this one! Colorado’s Breckenridge Ski Resort isn’t just a fun Christmas vacation destination; it’s also the setting of several notable scenes from this 1989 Chevy Chase classic. The movie’s Christmas tree-cutting scene was filmed at the resort’s golf course near Tiger Rd., and at Peak 8 is where Clark Griswold (Chase) blasts off from and sleds through forested terrain and open traffic before crashing inside a nearby Walmart in Frisco.
