All About Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's Sprawling Montecito Mansion at the Center of a Legal Battle

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are currently involved in a legal battle over their $15 million Santa Barbara home. 

A few days after the singer and her actor fiancé purchased their 1930s mansion in July 2020, the seller, an 84-year-old business entrepreneur named Carl Westcott, asked to rescind the contract.

According to legal documents filed by Westcott and obtained by PEOPLE, he claims he was not in the right mental state to sell his home at the time, as he was recovering from spinal surgery and on painkillers when Clarke presented him with a contract from Jennifer Easter, who represented the couple’s famous business manager Bernie Gudvi. Westcott also has Huntington’s Disease, a genetic brain disorder, which he was diagnosed with in 2015.

The issue has been brought to a non-jury trial that began on Wednesday and will continue next week. Here’s everything to know about the impressive Montecito property that at its center.

Westcott — whose daughter-in-law is Real Housewives of Dallas reality star Kameron Westcott — originally bought the home for $11.25 million in May 2020. 

Initially, real estate agent Nate Smith, who represented Maria Shriver, expressed interest in the house for $13 million, but that same day Westcott countered the offer for $13.5 million, Westcott’s real estate agent Cristal Clarke testified, adding that Westcott rescinded the offer hours later after she told him he could get more.

The following day, Westcott underwent surgery in Dallas, and Clarke allegedly called Perry’s real estate agent to let her know Westcott was willing to sell his home. The singer — who upped her initial offer of $13.5 million to $15 million — had viewed the property in the spring time before Westcott purchased it, and shortly after, she inquired about buying it from Westcott for almost $4 million over the original sale price, according to Clarke's testimony.

The 9,285-square-foot mansion is spread out across 2.5 acres and offers views of the surrounding mountains and ocean. It is a single-story property with nine bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. 

Vaulted ceilings add to the home’s modern farmhouse style, while amenities like a gym and wine cellar are added luxuries in the space. The expansive kitchen is equipped with two islands and two pantries.

In the outdoor area, an extensive yard and patio offer a large infinity pool with a waterfall feature. Lush greenery creates privacy for residents to fully enjoy the outdoor amenities, which also include a hot tub, fireplace and kitchen. 

A three-bedroom guesthouse is also located on the property with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.
