The Los Angeles home where Matthew Perry died has sold for $8.55 million, PEOPLE can confirm.

It was sold in an off-market deal nearly one year after the Friends star’s death on Oct. 28, 2023. The property, located in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of L.A., features four bedrooms, four full bathrooms and is spread out across 3,500 square feet, according to the New York Times

The home was purchased by Perry for $6 million in 2020, per the outlet.

Greg Holcombe of Carolwood Estates held the listing for Perry’s estate, while the buyer was represented by Brooke Elliott Laurinkus of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California. The buyer is movie producer and real estate developer Anita Verma-Lallian.

Perry died at the age of 54 from acute effects of the prescription drug ketamine, according to an autopsy report obtained by PEOPLE in December 2023. He was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his L.A. home.

At the time of his death, a source told PEOPLE exclusively that the beloved actor had just made renovations to the house and that he "was incredibly happy" there. Perry referred to his home as “heaven,” the source added.

Another home belonging to the actor, located in Hollywood Hills, was listed for sale in May 2024 for $5.2 million. Property records indicate that it was purchased in June 2023, just four months before Perry’s death.

In a statement shared exclusively with PEOPLE after the tragic incident, Perry's family said: "We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love."

It was revealed in the autopsy that contributing factors in the actor’s death included drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects (a medication used to treat opioid use disorder).

In May 2024, authorities launched a formal investigation to determine where the actor got the powerful medication, as the level found in Perry’s blood was equal to the amount that would be used during general anesthesia, according to the autopsy report.

In August, five people were charged and arrested in connection with Perry’s death, including two doctors, a woman known as "The Ketamine Queen" and Perry’s personal live-in assistant.
