Last week, the firm hosted BTGA's Tremendously Grand Affair (BTGA) where we celebrated the growth of our firm with those who matter the most - firm members, clients, family, friends, and well-wishers. We are grateful to all that have been part of our journey over the years.  We are especially thankful to the many impact organisations who we work with, and who showcased to our guests the important work that they do - Thomson Reuters Foundation, Parikrma Humanity Foundation, Social Compact, Dasra, Kadam Haat, reCharkha - The EcoSocial Tribe, Karmann, Frontier Elephant Programme, and Setu. Equally thankful to Papa CJ for getting everyone to split their sides, and to Ummeed Express and Railway Cutlet for pulling everyone to the dance floor with their performances. The firm also released its inaugural Impact Report showcasing some of its initiatives of the recent past. 🌟 IIM A lecture on Making Invisible Visible in the ‘S’ of ESG 🌟 I was recently honored to deliver a lecture at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM A). The focus was on our work at Social Compact, where we address a critical yet frequently ignored segment of ESG—the 'Social' component. During the session, my colleague Karishma V and I engaged with second-year MBA students eager to understand the complexities of integrating informal workers into corporate value chains. These individuals, often the backbone of many industries, remain invisible in traditional ESG frameworks. The discussion aimed to providing the future leaders a glimpse on how they can contribute to a more inclusive economic model. Standing before such an esteemed institution, one we've only dreamed of studying at, was overwhelming. I walked away exhilarated, filled with deep reflections and thought-provoking questions from an exceptionally engaged group of young minds. The key areas of questioning included: - Imbalance of excessive labour supply versus low demand, leading to the treatment of these informal workers as a herd that can be easily replaced. - Shifting the responsibility of ensuring well-being of informal workers to the Government alone. Why should the private sector care? - Challenges industries face in remaining viable within a competitive market. These systemic questions led me to reflect about change we are trying to bring in the industry mindset. The change is often driven by the strong intent of leaders and change-makers to shift from “business as usual” to a “new normal.” Starting with a moment and letting that gradually transform itself into a momentum. The inspiration for this change comes from the little experiences and anecdotes that we are exposed to. I hope that in our interaction with these bright minds, we were able to plant seeds of hope, righteousness, morality, and ethics, as they get ready to enter the business world and contribute towards a world where every worker is treated with dignity and equity. Many of us ordered sweets and gifts for loved ones online this Diwali, saving us from #traffic and #pollution. While platforms enable customer wellbeing how do they ensure the wellbeing for millions of delivery partners who are out and about facing a variety of weather and road conditions? At Zomato, we decided to create a comprehensive framework to help us plan and finance our delivery partner wellbeing efforts. The framework covers 5 dimensions of wellbeing - financial, social, physical, mental and professional. So that we can measure changes to delivery partner wellbeing year on year, just as we measure everything else. Thanks to Social Compact and Janpahal for their invaluable inputs to this #deliverypartner wellbeing framework. And to the thousands of delivery partners whose feedback and aspirations were gathered through surveys, interviews and focus group discussions. We hope to do better by our partners every year and are grateful to now have a holistic and context-relevant guide for our efforts. #wellbeing #gigwork
