About us
Antarang Foundation is an 11-year-old organization that enables access to aspirational careers for adolescents in order to smoothen their transition from education to employment. Antarang envisions a world where every young person is passionately, productively and positively engaged in a career of their choice. Over the years, Antarang has impacted 350,000+ students from socially and economically vulnerable backgrounds through its core programs - CareerAware and CareeReady. 86% of Antarang graduates are productively engaged in education, employment or training. Antarang focuses towards a systemic education-to-employment transition by advocating government and industries to build an employability ecosystem. The Antarang Careers Model bridges the gap between school and work by embedding a high quality, geographically customised, actionable career awareness and readiness curriculum in high schools across the country; and training a cadre of career facilitators to guide adolescents in making aspirational transitions from school to higher/ vocational education and work.

Recently, we conducted a comprehensive session with our staff and facilitators on PoSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment), POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences), and PSEA(Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) led by Pankti Gohel (She/Her) Through insightful discussions and practical learning, we empowered our folks to better understand how to recognise, prevent, and address harassment and exploitation—whether it's safeguarding the students we work with or fostering a respectful environment for ourselves. At Antarang Foundation, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and accountable space for everyone, reinforcing our ongoing dedication to protecting all those we engage with.

Reading this post from our founder fills me with both admiration and gratitude. Her thoughts on normalizing conversations around young women’s ambitions and the need to shift societal perspectives resonate deeply with me. It’s a powerful reminder of the work still needed to create a truly equitable world, where daughters are seen not only as nurturers but as ambitious, capable individuals with limitless potential. Reflecting on my time at Antarang Foundation last February, I’m reminded of the incredible opportunity I had to be part of a team that genuinely believes in the transformative power of education, opportunity, and empowerment. Working under such visionary leadership was an experience that opened my eyes to the importance of addressing these systemic issues in both our professional and personal lives. I’m grateful for the space Antarang provided to have candid conversations about gender, careers, and the challenges young women face. The organization’s commitment to breaking barriers and building bridges is something that continues to inspire me. I feel privileged to have contributed to the mission, and the values of Antarang will always stay with me.
"Yeh hamari beti nahi, beta hain" (We don't treat her like a daughter, but like a son) - Those parting words filled me with a feeling that was both disappointing and hopeful at the same time. I spent a couple of hours last month with the family of one of our students as I was invited to participate in a family festival. As always, I enjoyed the many organic conversations. The main one centred around the very bright older daughter applying for a program overseas and the family's reaction to the impending selection and results. As it happened, the brother had also applied to the same program. The mother said that she hoped that the son got in. The uncle, much more, diplomatically, said he hoped both got in. We all knew that the daughter had a much better chance - she was driven, she was academically bright, had the scores and experience that was superior to her brother's. We discussed safety, affordability and opportunity during and after the program, rightfully so. The family was convinced. And the family also said that unlike the son, here they also feared the family's "izzat" (pride / respect). What they meant was no consensual relationships, especially outside the caste or community. And also about coming back home to work, perhaps after marriage. We discussed many examples otherwise. But this was the hardest one. We agreed that we will decide once the results were declared. And then the parting line. What I really #appreciated was that the family was open and spoke about issues that are often elephants in the room. What needs to be #normalised are these conversations about what young women can and should be doing - travel, study, work in what they choose. What needs to #change is that daughters and not just sons alone can have ambition and be economically successful. The India I hope to see will say "Hamari beti hain, parivaar uski kamayi par bhi chati hain" (This is our daughter, she also contributes to the family's finances). #gender #careers #careerreadiness #schooltowork #opportunities #narratives Antarang Foundation

In books, turning pages is more than a movement. The book of Aspiration by Antarang Foundation is such a kind of book where every page has a story, every page talks about dreams, and every page reflects the struggles of people from all over the place. After reading the book completely. I realized it gave a more valuable lesson than any self-help books out there. Also reading the stories of our elders from the book, I learned that the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Even I was lucky to get featured in the book of aspiration; despite my struggles, they were very few as compared to the rest of the people in the book, maybe because I refused to become a victim of my circumstances at a very early stage of my life. Thank you Antarang Foundation for valuing my journey and sharing it with the world and thank you Alfiyan for drafting my story.

Meet Deepika, an Antarang alumni who is now inspiring students as a Career Facilitator. Deepika believes that career awareness and readiness should be an integral part of school curriculums. She also feels that using practical examples helps students learn better and makes career guidance more meaningful. At Antarang, we’re proud of facilitators like Deepika, who are shaping young minds and making a real difference. 💡 👉 Do you think career readiness should be a subject in schools? This year saw many firsts for us at Antarang - 2 of our senior leaders represented India and our work with local governments to enable social and economic mobility - Priya Agrawal and Priyanka Sanghai participated in and contributed to various forums thanks to the support from Motwani Jadeja Foundation and Dasra. #UNGA #Careereducation #youth #SDG8
In September 2024, fourteen remarkable nonprofit impact leaders from India had the privilege of representing their country during the United Nations General Assembly week in New York City as part of the Motwani Jadeja Impact Fellowship. This transformative experience fostered important discussions, and inspiring events, and provided an opportunity to connect with global changemakers, including insights from esteemed leaders. Beyond the program’s events, the fellowship emphasized the cultivation of enduring connections. Engaging in these global platforms and exploring the vibrant streets of New York City were all moments of celebration of impact and leadership. We present a glimpse of this extraordinary experience, where India’s voice resonated on the global stage. #MJIF #GlobalImpact #Leadership #SocialInnovation #UNGA Asha Jadeja Dasra QUEST Alliance Aangan Trust Chaitali Sheth CINI INDIA jayesh joshi VAAGDHARA INDIA Kuldeep Dantewadia Reap Benefit Mallika Biddappa-Tharakan KHPT Mannat Anand Make A Difference Priya Agrawal Antarang Foundation Sanchita Mitra SEWA Bharat Siddesh Sarma Industree Foundation Buzz Women Vanessa D'Souza SNEHA (Society for Nutrition, Education and Health Action)

Education is a fundamental human right, but it’s more than just books and classrooms—it’s about access to opportunities, guidance, and the freedom to dream big. At Antarang Foundation, we believe every young person deserves the right to choose their own career path, fostering a future filled with purpose and potential. Why does this matter? 🔹 Access to Career Guidance: Only 20% of Indian youth receive structured career guidance, leaving many aspirations unfulfilled. 🔹 Breaking Barriers: Socio-economic status, gender, and location should never limit one’s career aspirations. 🔹 Human Rights for All: Equal access to education and career opportunities aligns with Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, advocating for the right to education and the freedom to choose one’s career. According to UN Department of Social and Economic Affairs, education and career opportunities are central to sustainable development and economic growth. By ensuring inclusive access to guidance and resources, we’re fostering an environment where every youth can thrive, regardless of their background. At Antarang Foundation, we are committed to building sustainable and integrated solutions that make career guidance and opportunities available to every youth, ensuring that their rights to education and career freedom are not just respected but actively championed. #EducationForAll #HumanRights #CareerGuidance #YouthEmpowerment #EqualOpportunities #AntarangFoundation
