Take a look at this picture. It was taken today at our Salesforce offices in Tel-Aviv. It shows a few dozens of Salesforce Israel employees in one of our regular all-hands meetings. What's so special about that? Well, that picture was taken exactly 36 hours after Iran launched a massive aerial strike against Israel with 100s of UCAVs, ballistic and cruise missiles carrying about 60 tons(!) of explosives. Thanks to the Israeli Air force, the air forces of the US, UK, France, Jordan and others *and* Israeli innovation and engineering talent who developed the most advanced multi-layered air defense systems in the world - luckily that attack ended up with relatively low impact. It was a sleepless night for all us in Israel who got an advanced notice of the attack and basically spent that night bracing for impact. Now take another look at this picture. 36 hours later - People showing up at the office, talking to each other, having a few laughs, having meetings, discussing deadlines, solving business problems, discussing engineering problems, doing demos, having coffee and lunch together, having an all-hands meeting together. 36 hours ago we were bracing for impact of 60 tons of explosives that were about to fall out of the sky. Google is getting close to a record $23 billion deal to acquire Israeli cybersecurity company Wiz. According to the story, Alphabet, the parent company of Google, is reportedly in "advanced talks" to acquire Wiz, a company based in #NewYork. This would be the largest #acquisition of an Israeli tech company and double Alphabet's largest acquisition to yet, which was the $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola in 2012. The publication pointed out that the possible transaction would occur at a time when startups have been leery of mergers and acquisitions because of fears of antitrust monitoring, and that Google is looking to strengthen its cloud computing company, for which Wiz supplies cybersecurity. Assaf Rappaport, Yinon C., Ami Luttwak, and Roy R.-launched Wiz in early 2020. This same team founded Adallom, which Microsoft acquired in 2015 for $320 million. They oversaw the Cloud Security Group for Microsoft Azure as well. Forty percent of the Fortune 100 firms, including Slack, Mars, BMW, DocuSign, Plaid, and Agoda, are among its clientele. It depends on how the refactoring is approached. If the developer takes the time to understand which parts of the code will be affected, performs incremental refactoring supported by automated tests, and ensures that the results are measurable (e.g., improved performance, better test coverage, reduced code smells, lower maintenance effort), then refactoring is the right choice. However, if the refactoring is done merely to showcase a developer's skills, without being backed by tests or delivering tangible value, it can lead to unnecessary complexity and bad code.

They've been working hand in hand with the police to tighten up national security. * Mental Health Support Understanding the emotional toll, platforms like Myndlift and Telesofia Medical have expanded their telehealth services. They’re making online therapy more accessible so that anyone can find the mental health support they need during this tough time. * Aid and Relief Apps Startups have created apps that connect volunteers with local organizations that need help. Companies like Wix and Fiverr are making it super easy for people to pitch in and lend a hand. * Backing Local Businesses Apps like Buy Local have been developed to help consumers discover and support nearby shops, fostering a sense of community resilience. Venture capital firms and fintech companies established funds to provide low-interest loans and financial guidance to struggling businesses. OurCrowd launched initiatives to help local entrepreneurs secure funding more easily. * Community Building Networking groups are gathering to share resources and brainstorm recovery strategies. Organizations like Startup Nation Central and TechAviv are creating spaces for people to come together and discuss how to support one another. As we approach one year, the Israeli tech scene continues to come together to support each other and their communities. Virtual Threads greatly improve the application throughput and overall responsiveness of Java applications. Just need to be careful about delegating the right kind of operations to Virtual threads - typically less CPU intensive and almost stateless in nature. For operations requiring external network/service calls, a traditional thread is still the way to go for resilience and performance both. Wiz Acquired An Israeli-Founded Cybersecurity Startup Dazz, the Israeli-founded startup, that developed an AI platform that uses generative AI technologies for root-cause analysis of fast-evolving security threats, was acquired by Wiz. The deal's value is not disclosed and is estimated at $450 million. Dazz’s platform allows automation the process of detecting, prioritizing, and fixing security vulnerabilities for businesses that use cloud services. According to Wiz, the acquisition is part of its strategy to become a multi-product cybersecurity firm. Dazz was established in 2021 by Merav Bahat (CEO), Tomer Schwartz (CTO), and Yuval Ofir (VP R&D). Dazz raised a total of $110 million from investors, including Greylock Partners, Insight Partners, Index Ventures, and Cyberstarts. The startup employs 115 people, of whom 60 are based in Israel. Dazz is headquartered in Palo Alto and has offices in Tel Aviv and New York. Wiz's cyber platform is tailored to secure everything developers build and run in the cloud. According to a source familiar with the negotiations, Noname Security, a #cybersecurity business that safeguards APIs, is in advanced talks to be acquired by Akamai Technologies for $500 million. Noname is based in Palo Alto but has Israeli roots. It was co-founded in 2020 by Oz Golan and Shay Levi. The firm recently had a valuation of $1 billion, having raised $220 million from venture capitalists and $135 million in a Series C round led by Lightspeed and Georgian in December 2021. The acquisition would be for cash as it stands, the individual added, even if the sale price represents a substantial markdown from that valuation. The #agreement is not binding and may be altered or not proceed at all. The Syndicate Group, Cyberstarts, ForgePoint, Next47, and Insight Partners are among the other investors that have supported Noname. Even if Noname's prospective selling price is just half of its previous private valuation, early investors will still #benefit significantly from the sale. In the meanwhile, the agreement should enable later-stage investors, especially those who contributed after the previous round, to receive a complete return on their #investment, if not the profit they had anticipated during the prosperous days of 2021 when capital was pouring and values were high. According to the source, the acquisition values the business at about 15X its recurring yearly sales. If the deal goes through, Noname's 200+ workers should transfer to Akamai. Akamai declined to respond. According to a Noname Security representative, "We generally refrain from commenting on rumors or speculation," was told. According to a January article from The Information, Noname was attempting to obtain capital at a #significantly lower valuation in a second funding round. Calcalist, an Israeli news site, said in February that Noname was in talks with other possible purchasers, including Akamai. When the U.S. Federal Reserve hiked interest rates, the values of many venture capital-backed firms that had raised money during the height of the #IT boom plummeted. Many are now in what's known in the financial sector as a dual-track process searching for buyers and a fresh round of capital at the same time. After the IPO market was shut down for more than a year, many later-stage venture #capitalists are now searching for liquidity. This is my new work uniform: Two weeks ago several of my coworkers were fired for calling for an end to Project Nimbus - a joint contract between Google and Amazon signed in 2021 which provides cloud services to the Israeli government and its military. This was the most recent of many attempts by workers to end the contract. Google should not be providing its services to ANY military. As a global company with billions of users, in nearly every country, making more money than many GDPs, it is an abuse of power and inhumane. Any technology can be used for benefit or detriment. A hammer can build a house and also bash a skull. I’m proud of the technology that Google has developed to facilitate early cancer detection, connect people during crisis and facilitate accessibility. Those same technologies will be used by militaries to kill. Google has a duty to be a responsible steward of its products. Aside from the moral issues, Google’s military contracts are a sign of competitive weakness. To enter this space should be a sign to investors that Google is desperate to maintain revenue growth. Google is a publicly traded company owned by the totality of its shareholders - not its leadership.
