IVC Data and Insights report on the Israeli venture market for Q1-Q3 2024 reveals: - $7.4 billion invested in Israeli startups, surpassing the entire 2023 total of $6.9 billion. - $13 billion generated from exits, a 26% increase from 2023's $10.4 billion. - 23% surge in foreign investments year-over-year. - 67% of capital sourced from global investors, with 33% from Israeli funds. - $2.7 billion secured by early-stage startups, the second-highest figure in Israeli startup ecosystem history (after 2022's record). These figures demonstrate investors' confidence in the long-term sustainability of the Israeli startup ecosystem. Trust received, challenge accepted. We're building the future, brick by brick.

Israeli Tech Shows Resilience Amidst Challenges Despite ongoing regional tensions, Israeli startups and tech firms have demonstrated remarkable resilience in Q3 2024. While investment slowed 20% compared to Q2, it's up an impressive 40% year-over-year. Some key highlights: • $2.43 billion raised in Q3, bringing the 2024 total to $7.22 billion - a 32% increase from last year • Six deals over $100 million, including a $1 billion investment in AI startup Safe Superintelligence • Foreign investor presence remains strong, with only a slight decline compared to 2023 This data underscores the enduring strength and innovation of Israel's tech ecosystem. 8 Technological Breakthroughs in Fertility This article highlights eight Israeli technological breakthroughs in fertility in honor of World Fertility Day 2024, two of which have connections to the Technion. PregnanTech’s Lioness device is placed in the patient during a short outpatient procedure and stays in place throughout the entire pregnancy to help prevent preterm birth. BAIBYS™ Fertility’s technology automates the challenging process of sperm selection for IVF treatments, utilizing AI and micro-robotics. The technology is expected to reduce the time and cost of the selection procedure, which normally requires highly trained medical personnel. New Israeli Med VC Aims to Match Israeli Medtech Developers and Users Edge Medical Ventures (EdgeMed), founded by Shai Policker, assists startups in aligning with the actual needs of the different stakeholders—patients, physicians, hospitals, clinics, and medical insurance companies. It will provide up to $7 million to support startups. Shai Policker tells ISRAEL21c — Good News From Israel: “We take that problem, that unmet need, and then we use our network of entrepreneurs and physicians in Israel and around the world to form a team that will ideate and try to solve it.” EdgeMed raised over $15m to use for: - Series A investment. It is the first significant funding ($2m or more), typically for a startup with a working product; - Series B investment ($7m or more),that allows a more mature startup to scale its operations. EdgeMed hopes to reach its $70m target by early 2025. EdgeMed’s startups:  - PatenSee, a startup founded in Or Yehuda in 2019. Its device monitors possible blockages in the lifeline, which is known as a fistula that connects kidney patients to the dialysis machine. It’s super-accurate and eliminates any physical contact that could be painful for the patient, or pose a risk of infection. - Exero Medical, also based in Or Yehuda, was founded in 2019 and will monitor patients for life-threatening leaks after gastrointestinal surgery. 📊H1 2024 Healthcare Investment Report📊> Reflecting the ACTUAL consequences of the war Analyzing current investment trends provides crucial insights into Israel's future health innovation landscape. With transaction cycles often exceeding 6 months, this report offers a forward-looking perspective on the sector's trajectory. In short, the situation is not good. 📍 Decrease in Invements: Total investment activity decreased by 33% in H1 2024 compared to H1 2023, and private investment decreased by nearly 60% when compared to quarterly activity before October 7th. 📌 All three sectors of healthcare innovation have been affected. 📍Reliance on Non-Traditional Investments: to compensate for lower funding activity - Early stages have resorted to grants and extensions to stay afloat, while later stages rely on PIPE deals. Neither of these are sustainable. 📍Mid-Stage Ongoing Success: Even despite the conflict, mid stage (A/B) rounds noticeably increased in H1 2024 when compared to H1 2023, which is a testament to both the resiliency and quality of emerging startups. This includes a $47M investment to Empathy, $31M to Sensi.AI, and $15M to Opmed.ai. 📍Allocating Funds: Team8 announced a new $500M fund which will allocate a portion of the proceeds to health. Ibex Investors announced a $106M early-stage fund. And both Greylock and Sequoia Capital, two long-standing brand-name Silicon Valley funds, announced they will renew operations in Israel. The importance of healthcare innovation Israel cannot be understated and should be seen as national asset. Israel has achieved a dominant position in the cybersecurity space, but it is barely scratching the surface of the potential of the global healthcare market. It is impossible to ignore the relevance of Israeli healthcare innovation and its contribution to the wider Israeli economy. The continuing conflict, and the higher risk profile of Israel, will undoubtedly continue to harm investment activity in healthcare. While there is significant government involvement already, it may be time to consider adjusting governmental programs to face current challenges and maintain a competitive edge for the future. Israeli Digital Health Company Raises $40 Million to Increase Affordability of Medical Services TailorMed, the Israeli digital health company, raised $40 million in equity and debt in the round led by Windham Capital Partners. Participation came from Samsung Next, Citi Impact Fund, and the BrightEdge fund. Poalim Tech led the debt component, amounting to $12.5 million. In total, TailorMed’s total funding has reached $69 million. TailorMed, founded in 2016 by Israel (Srulik) Dvorsky (CEO) and Adam Siton (CTO), employs 96 people, where 50% are based in Israel. TailorMed offers financial assistance solutions to improve medication access, primarily in the U.S. market. To increase the affordability of medical care, TailorMed developed a financial assistance network that connects patients, healthcare providers, pharmacies, and pharmaceutical companies. Spatial computer that seamlessly integrates the functionality of a laptop with the capabilities Of Augmented Reality (AR). A 100-inch virtual workspace replaces the need for a physical screen. Spacetop G1 adapts to various environments, whether at home, in the office, or on the go. This represents a step forward in integrating AR technologies with daily tasks. Spatial with AR transforms how we interact with digital content, personally and professionally. The real test will be in its execution.
