The linkage of heart disease to developing cancer is both an extraordinary discovery and yet wholly unsurprising at the same time. Organisms are self-contained ecosystems, and what we know about ecosystems is that rarely does damage to one sector fail to impact others. This applies to organizations, friendship circles, economies, physical environments, and yes, human bodies as well. Maintaining and improving the health of any body - from human and animal to corporate, structural, natural, and even planetary - requires developing a greater understanding of the interplay and effects of the differing components that need to function in combination and in unison with each other. Self-monitoring the healthy and productive symbiosis of all elements within a body or organization is absolutely essential. Due to the events in Israel, I've been getting many questions from Founders & CEOs about fundraising and building partnerships in the US. Having worked there for 12 years, summarizing the key points from the conversations here: 1. As the United States is more isolated than Europe, Americans are less exposed to war and global issues, which can make them more sensitive to them. It’s important to address this head-on and explain what life is like in Israel and the real impact. Although your U.S. counterparts may be polite, they will most likely be concerned about it. 2. U.S. companies are known to sign deals faster than other regions such as in APAC or EMEA. For this reason, it’s important to respond quickly to messages, with accurate information, and to be prepared. Structure the deal quickly and carefully – this is in contrast to a place like China, where you might work on the relationship for many months and start business proceedings. In the U.S., the business takes precedent over the relationship i.e. the merits of the deal. 3. I’ve seen Israelis assume that they are similar in professional style to Americans, but this is typically not the case. Israelis can be perceived as casual, direct, and sometimes arrogant; and we need to be aware of that. It can help if you’re able to work with someone who has experience in both worlds and can navigate cultures. 4. To sign a large deal or partnership, traveling to the U.S. is typically required. Being there to shake hands is very important, and most investors will not agree to a deal without multiple physical meetings to create both a personal and professional relationship. Here in Israel Health IT and service level in medical centers is way less advanced (but the doctors are way better 😁), but it's gonna change. And we are working on that=) All clinics using our solution have online booking, and, hopefully, the number of them will increase. We've been doing online booking for over 10 years, and yes, we know A LOT about it. Online booking helps you: 1. Increase site conversion level up to 2x 2. Increase the level of patient's service 3. Joe Hayon shares his candid thoughts on the Israeli government's strategic role in the high-tech sector: ״The government needs to dial back on global politics and take on a more hands-on approach in managing the economy. It's time to shift focus and provide more substantial support to the startups that have real potential and as they are important to the Israeli economy, attracting foreign investments and creating jobs. The Israel Innovation Authority currently offers grants of hundreds of thousands of dollars to thousands of startups and does an excellent job of helping to lift these startups. However, founders still need risk management and business management tools, training, and coaching, meaning that having a great idea is not enough to build a business that can develop technology and market a new product.The concept that the core tech is so great that someone will buy the company, is what causes founders to refrain from ongoing learning of the addressable markets needs, often developing a product that nobody will want to use or even needs. The market is your workplace, and not the tech lab. Founding a startup does not come with work instructions, so the complexity of building a startup is often underestimated, while the value of an idea, initial prototype or proof of concept based on academic research is greatly overestimated. It often takes years and tens of millions of dollars to reach a break-through product, and thousands of startups will have a low probability of raising funds beyond the grant or a seed investment. I believe it's better to allocate more resources to fewer companies that demonstrate strong growth opportunity, with a key component being the potential of the founders. I believe that this approach will leave more companies in Israeli control, meaning that they will grow into larger entities, to further strengthen in the Israeli economy and the dependence of the global markets on Israeli based technologies and business corporations.״ In an industry as dynamic as high-tech, strategic investment and professional support by people with a track record are crucial for startup survival and growth.
