This focus on #messaging and #positioning is what 92% of respondents in a Product Marketing Alliance survey identified as a significant part of their role. Essentially, it's about crafting the words, expressions, problems, and solutions that position our product on "the right shelf" where it has the best chance to stand out and be chosen. Messaging and positioning are certainly not new concepts in the world of marketing and sales, and their precursors can still be found in supermarket aisles, retail stores, and car dealerships. When dealing with digital products that cannot be touched, tasted, or sat in, this task becomes particularly challenging, especially when the market is saturated with competing products, and differentiation through unique messaging is crucial. "I try my hardest to turn everything I do into a funnel" One of the most important takeaways from our most recent episode with Tal Mishaly, Head of Product Marketing & Growth at Guardio, is that being measurable is a state of mind. Link to the full (Hebrew) episode in the comment. If a channel you're owning, an asset you're maintaining, a project you're running - don't come with built-in measurements, come up with significant touch points that you can use to "draw" a linear funnel and identify cohorts. This might feel forced or even counter productive at first, but this will signal 3 things to your organization: 1. You're a deep-digger that doesn't settle for surface level insights 2. You're goal-driven even if those have to be manufactured from scratch 3. You won't think of saying "it's really difficult to measure so I didn't" So how do you handle the inherent difficulty in measuring PMM work (even more so in B2B)? How do you personally bridge the measurement gap?

Playtika has acquired mobile developer SuperPlay for $700 million, at the very least. If Tel-Aviv based SuperPlay also hits certain financial targets over three years, an additional contingent consideration of up to $1.25 billion will also go to the company. The acquisition is “expected to add an experienced team to Playtika with a track record of launching new, successful games”. SuperPlay was founded by former Playtika employees Gilad Almog and Eyal Netzer. Both Gilad and Eyal will continue to lead SuperPlay as its own studio within Playtika with this acquisition. Most notably, the SuperPlay is behind two titles: Dice Dreams (a coin looter game), and Domino Dreams (a board focused game). The games currently have a combined 1.7 million average daily active users as of August 2024. Playtika cites a few strategic & financial benefits for the acquisition, such as acquiring the high growth IPs within the Coin Looter and Board categories, adding the strong dev team, and creating an earnout structure that rewards performance while reducing risk. 6 months of indie hacking - 6 things I learned: Small audience does not mean you cannot succeed with your product. I crossed $1K in sales with Larafast when I just had 400 followers. So, stop blaming your audience count and ship that product! Be honest and authentic in your posts. Being honest and authentic makes people trust you more. If you gain trust, you'll grow your audience faster, people will refer others to you, you will make more friends, and you can sell more. Make friends with your competitors. Competition is always good, especially healthy one. (I referred couple of my customers who didn't liked my product to my competitor, am I dumb? 😁) Ask for help when you need it. People in dev communities are different; they are friendly, willing to help each other, and grow with each other. So don't be shy, ask those questions. Appreciate your audience. It takes nothing from you to reply with a simple "Thank you" to people who are congratulating you on your achievements. Remember where you started. Help others. As @eliasstravik repeats always: Give before ask. Just help others, share their posts, give advices in areas that you are experienced, help those you are just starting with things you learnt already. Two years ago, we acquired an Israeli start-up (Adverifai) that was working to identify misinformation on the Internet. We invested heavily in the product and revealed it to the Cannes Lions crowd. I’m super proud of the team's work and all that investment. This year I heard from many customers asking me why Zefr didn’t also work on the open web. NO company can do everything well. Sure, you can do everything….but just not well. I understand that sometimes our customers don’t understand the difference between a robust solution and a check-the-box solution. But that fact doesn’t change Zefr’s commitment to the quality of our solution. When I look at our industry competitors (i.e. the legacy measurement providers), they clearly believe they are in the (static) software business. At Zefr, we understand that our business in safety and security is always evolving because the space is replete with adversarial agents attempting to monetize on harmful content. It becomes an aggressive cat-and-mouse game. The key to combating these agents of misinformation and brand safety is to aggressively INVEST. It never STOPS! That is why we maniacally focus on the walled gardens! It’s the space that gets most of our customer’s investment, AND it requires an ALWAYS innovation mentality to stay in front of the adversarial agents. If you are a public or private company and you settle for the “good enough” software mentality in the safety and security space, one day you will wake up and it won’t be good enough. The statement on Zefr’s Cannes signage could be applied to legacy ad tech companies. Building brand (or Ad Tech) trust is hard, losing it easy. #peanutbuttermanifesto
