Before the implementation of PROS, Cyprus Airways was experiencing errors with their booking engine, resulting in a poor shopping experience for their customers. The airline was looking for a scalable shopping and pricing solution to eliminate the errors, while supporting its growth plans for the future of Offers and Orders. Cyprus Airways found it with PROS, going live in a swift implementation that took only 12 weeks. Cyprus Airways is enhancing its digital retail ecosystem with PROS IBE-independent offer creation solution for website shopping, as well as for direct channel distribution. Now customers booking with Cyprus Airways enjoy a fast, error-free shopping experience, with offers that are accurate and always available for purchase, regardless of the shopping channel. Four and five-star hotels are the most in-demand in Montenegro. Capacities of five-star hotels account for only 11% of total hotel capacities, yet these hotels register 19% of the total number of hotel stays, showing significantly higher demand in relation to their supply share. The new methodology emphasizes the freshness of reviews, seasonal fluctuations, and the accuracy of the provided information. 🎯 First, the weighted calculation. Now the overall score reflects the actual state of the hotel: recent reviews carry more weight and have a stronger impact on the final score. 🎯 Seasonal features are equally important. Reviews from high season have a stronger influence than sparse off-season ratings, maintaining rating objectivity. 🎯 The dynamics of changes have accelerated. New reviews adjust the score faster — this can work both positively and negatively for a hotel. Another key aspect concerns guest expectations. Booking.com recommends updating service descriptions and amenities to reflect seasonality. These changes inspire many ideas for action. The off-season is a great time for experiments: new services, temporary discounts, or unique offers. Renovations are different now: fresh content and reviews immediately boost rankings. Updating seasonal photos and descriptions has become essential. Booking.com clearly highlights reviews as a key element of hotel success. Ranking algorithms directly depend on ratings, influencing hotel visibility and revenue. 📊 According to some sources, a 1-point increase in the review score (out of 10) boosts booking likelihood by 6.75%, allows room rates to increase by 5.6%, and guests are willing to pay 17% more for a score of 4.4 compared to 3.9, and 12% more for 3.9 compared to 2.4(Cornell University, TrustYou, Travelmedia). The review score is not just a number; it’s the key to success. But Booking.com’s recommendations alone are not enough. It’s essential to manage guest expectations, address complaints, motivate the team, and focus on reviews. This strategy requires attention to detail, and I plan to discuss it in upcoming articles. Expedia has a market share of close to 15%, up 2% in the last 2 years. • OTAs undercut prices set by hotels in 4 out of 10 cases. They also multi-source offers by listing rates and availabilities of other OTAs on their own platform, affecting 1 in 2 hotels in Europe and creating multiple operational challenges for hoteliers (such as price inconsistencies). • Electronic distribution represents 45% of overnight stays booked via online channels (online travel agencies, social media, internet booking engines on hotel websites, etc.). • Over the past decade, awareness and use of travel meta-search engines among hotels have increased significantly. In 2013, TripAdvisor led the market with a 71% usage share, but by 2023, Google Hotel Ads has taken the lead with an 80% usage share.
