To all my hotelier friends in Greece: With the announcement of booking.com, you won't be able to take any pre-paid reservations unless you opt in payments by booking.com whereby they collect the money on behalf of you further increasing your cost of sale (payments through VC or bank transfer will further cut 2-4% based on guest's country, exchange rate among others). With Triptease's demand and audience intelligence, how about we bring those directly to your webpage and maximise your profits? Let's discuss if you want to be on top of the curve.. #greece, #greekhospitality, #greekhoteliers

The worst customer service ever I recently made a hotel booking in error through Agoda website. Upon realizing my mistake, I contacted the hotel directly to cancel, but they informed me that cancellations must be handled through Agoda and noted that the booking was non-refundable. I proceeded to book another hotel room, this time ensuring the reservation was refundable. However, when I went through the refund process, I noticed that the last four digits of the card listed for the refund were not the same as the card I used to make the payment. This raises a couple of concerns: Why was a different card number used for the refund process? Is there a way to verify the card details for the refund before finalizing the cancellation? 🚨 Booking.com and the Digital Markets Act (DMA) HOTREC - Hotels, Restaurants & Cafés in Europe have reacted to the latest booking.com changes as result of the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA). Hotrec's recent findings reveal that Booking .com remains non-compliant with the DMA, raising serious concerns for the hospitality industry. They state that this lack of compliance puts smaller hospitality providers at a disadvantage, limiting choices for consumers and creating an uneven playing field. As businesses and regulators work to uphold fairness in digital markets, enforcement of the DMA is more critical than ever. The DMA is very important as it was designed to foster fairness and competition in digital markets. Read their findings here - https://lnkd.in/eQqkijVZ 📢 It's time for meaningful action to ensure transparency and competition in online travel services. #DigitalMarketsAct #FairCompetition #HospitalityTech

According to Agoda, 4 ways to tell why guests are not paying for a room at your hotel. How to find out if this impacts your hotel? 1. ▶ The Booking Engine redirects from your hotel page. Guest trust is lost. bookdirectdotcom is not the same as your trusted hotel website. Paying is a security concern. 2. ▶ Sign up Loyalty is important. Take the booking first, make it easy & then offer loyalty. We are lazy now. 3. ▶ No pay by wallet or buy now pay later (BNPL). Apple Pay has grown 40% since 2022. Guests can book with one click. Safely give their email & card number (token). Buy now pay later has a 20% higher spend at booking. 4. Typing 80% of bookings occur on a mobile device. Making a guest micro clunk type is not the welcome they hope for. Is your hotel impacted? Let's find out: Take a deep breath. Get some alone time. Book a room on your hotel's website from your mobile. Use a local and foreign payment method. Was it hard to give the hotel owner your booking? Maybe it's time for change.

🚨 Great news for hotels around Europe! Today, the European Commission designated Booking.com as a gatekeeper platform under the Digital Markets Act. HOTREC strongly supports the decision and remains committed to open dialogue with the European Commission and Booking.com. European hotels are confronted with far too many unfair business practices from Booking.com that negatively affect their performance. For example, preventing hotels from offering better prices or not sharing their data with hotel partners. These are just two of the many issues that should finally be resolved thanks to Booking.com's designation as a gatekeeper. 🔸 Alexandros Vassilikos, HOTREC President, commented: “After a decade-long struggle between European hotels and Booking.com, the DMA is now a real game changer." "Booking.com has been designated a gatekeeper by the European commission under the Digital Markets Act." Above and beyond the compliance requirements expected in this type of situation (Booking could be fined by the European Commission up to 10% of the OTA’s global revenue and even more if not compliant with DMA rules), the consequence on hotels is that rate parity is likely to totally disappear and hotels will then be allowed to practice lower prices when selling directly (even if in practice some markets had already made rate parity impossible). #OTA #competition #hospitalityindustry #hotels Margrethe Vestager
