If you have a business podcast, the best way to save money on producing your podcast is to have great audio quality going in, which means having and using the right microphone properly. And then, of course, there is the respect for your listeners/potential clients. The respect that comes through when you do not ask them to strain to hear you clearly in the podcast. In 8 minutes you can literally hear the difference a quality microphone makes AND how to use it properly. Link below, start at about 3 minutes to hear the difference between: 1. good and not so good mic placement 2. a dynamic mic and a condenser mic (like the Blue Yeti) Link in comments to the full 8 minute video. Eight minutes to save you a lot of time and money on production clean up. Coffeelike Media

The "podcasts are new to YouTube" narrative is 100 percent false. Podcasts have always been multimodal, including on YouTube, albeit without YT's official current messy options. Not the audio file itself (clearly that's audio!) BUT what comes out of that audio has. For example: -audiograms-video -newsletters-text -social media posts-text, photo and/or video -merchandise with our podcast logo -websites with info and/or play buttons and on and on Maybe it's because sharing is so stinking hard to do with audio podcasts on podcast apps (like Lindsay Harris-Friel so clearly outlined in the, "Your Podcast Won’t Go Viral, and That’s a Good Thing" in The Podcast Host, but we've always had to use other mediums to pull people into our audio. So this "podcasts are new to YouTube" narrative is 100 percent false. A fair number of podcasters have been on YT for ages. Not always as video first productions, but we've been there. In fact, I started my first YouTube channel in 2017, the same time I started my audio podcasts. At first, I had different projects in different forms: a language learning YouTube channel (Changing Scripts. Oh wow was my production quality bad!) and an expat life audio podcast (Geopats). What's changed with podcasts on YouTube then? 1. the pressure that some folks (I'm glaring at your for your creative pressure. You know who you are!) who say you have to do video. False. 2. the gear that audio first podcasters feel they need to use to up their video production quality. 3. the one that no one is actually talking about: that there are more and more content focused, less flashy YouTube channels that are focused on content quality first. They don't need to call them podcasts because at the end of the day content is content. They are quality driven. They keep the audience in mind at all time, like podcasters tend to do. So please, for the love of all things meaningful about your story, your message, your experience that you're sharing, STOP thinking you need to pick between audio and video. You Don't! You have an array of mediums to share the content of your podcast. Pick the mediums you want to use when you can and want to use them to reach people who consume content in that space. If you're at or near retirement age but are struggling with the thought of not working because you have so much more to do, to give, to be: read this. It's one of the most beautiful accounts I've ever read about coming to terms with mortality and our worth and where they intersect (and don't). https://lnkd.in/gWf-xhu9 Coffeelike Media Paul Rosenblum

True or False: Sometimes slower and more personalized methods work better. I know that some people cringe over voice messages on social media of messaging platforms. It's interesting to hear people's reactions. Or more so, to not hear them. Folks who respond with a smile in their return voice message are my people. Voice rules words (sorry words) in my book. I completely understand the inefficiency of voice messages. But sometimes, it's not about efficiency. It's about all of those other human traits that keep us motivated, inspired and connected. I was sitting on this park bench today thinking about the difference between having valuable content AND getting that content into the right hands (ears, eyes, etc). It's a big difference unfortunately. And as I mentioned previously, I do NOT think that our attention spans are getting worse. I think that it's a consumer's content market. Dylan Schmidt and I talked about this in a lovely coffee chat (not recorded) recently and he views things similarly. We as content consumers do not want to wade through invaluable content. Moments of fluff are passed quickly while we search for the bits that will help us, move us, change us. Yes, I said change us, because that's what content often does. It transforms our lives in some way. That's why it's so powerful. Making valuable content is that first step in getting people's attention but it's NOT the only step. And that's where my conversation with Vicki Weinberg began. She has the valuable Amazon Seller content for her audience. In abundance. But her YouTube channel needed the initial nudge that they all do. I gave her some recommendations specific to her channel, her audience, her project. And because I'm in massive experimental mode with YouTube myself these days, I've got so many ideas to pass on. That's the thing folks, as much as we want certainty, there isn't a set way to do x,y, or z with content right now because like our IRL world, things are in massive flux. Experiment is the word you're looking for. The mind set you need. The actions you need to take. Certainty, BAH, it does not exist. To get the YouTube algorithm going, as Vicki is starting to do, you need to experiment with different things. Check in on them to see how they're doing. When something works, do more of that. When something doesn't, move on to another experiment. I'd love to tell you something more certain. Something concrete but the only concrete thing in this fluid world is change. So why not embrace experiments then? The full session with Vicki is below. And if you're an Amazon seller, you're going to want to follow her ASAP as well. Join me on the park bench to brainstorm how you could experiment with your media growth: https://lnkd.in/dwZZ5WzV

The line between being honest and lessening our voices, our experiences, our wisdom is a very delicate place. Kind of like a faint rainbow that you can only partially see. It's almost impossible to hear these moments on your own. You're too close, too connected to your podcast and other media presence places. Helping clients experiment with this powerful platform of podcasting to find their unique voice AND volume is one of my superpowers. So I'm sitting on the park bench if you need an ear to talk about this or any similar nuances of YOUR podcast voice, message, story. https://lnkd.in/dwZZ5WzV Coffeelike Media
