I took a 2 month #parentalleave as a Partner at Roland Berger to take care of my son and spend more time with my wife. Are are my 5 learnings and recommendations how to make it happen: 1. #Enjoy the moment: Just be there for your family, don't overload the time with special activities every day. Go out in the forest, swimming or go to the playground brings a lot of joy 2. Align timing with #business cycle: Put the leave ideally in the summer months of July and August or whatever time is best for your industry 3. #Delegate all tasks and enable the next leadership generation: Don't think that you are irreplaceable, instead try to hand over all responsibilities, potentially except for having a look at your direct reports from time to time 4. Spend time with your #partner: Do things you did not manage to do in the last months such as a romantic dinner or going to the cinema while your kid is in daycare or relatives have a look 5. Do a private #project: My wife and I build a gigantic mud kitchen for our son and I trief to swim every day for 1h while he was sleeping You could also reconsider if a formal parental leave, i.e. being 100% out is right or if you want to move to a 80 or 90% contract with 2 or 3 months vacation in a year but more flexibility. And finally: Just do it. The time with your kid never comes back. During our time Camelot Management Consultants and Camelot ITLab - A part of the Camelot Management Consultants brand, we can look back on a long-standing and very successful business relationship. Our logistics industry and its customers face similar issues as data is still an issue before successfully transitioning to GenAI and beyond. The new normal of the robust and agile E2E value chain, combined with the digitalization of our industry and the challenges it faces, still needs, or especially now, people like us. The consolidation of the market that we have discussed, such as the potential DB Schenker and DSV - Global Transport and Logistics (Not yet known), as well as the newcomers in Logistics such as port operators DP World and carriers, like MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company or CMA CGM and other players like Amazon, P44, Forto in the LSP sector, must be taken seriously. Setting the PACE – Pushing boundaries with our successful SAP transformation in finance and procurement at Porsche As part of the PACE project (Procurement, Accounting, Controlling, Excellence), we at MHP – A Porsche Company have raised the finance and procurement processes to a new level together with Porsche AG. With the introduction of SAP S/4HANA, we were able to significantly improve data quality, streamline processes and create a platform that supports Porsche in reacting flexibly to new market requirements. The complexity of the project lay primarily in the integration of numerous systems that are essential for the finance department. The positive impact is reflected in the results: standardized data sources, transparent processes and a noticeable increase in efficiency in daily workflows. The finance department is now future-ready and in the best position to actively contributing to Porsche's future success. Last week I attended EY’s Supply Chain Days event in Mannheim. The event was focused on the supply chain of the future and value creation in data-driven ecosystems. The event featured a great lineup of speakers including Ronald Bogaschewsky from the University of Würzburg who emphasized the urgency for students to ask the right questions and the need to address the limitations of raw materials beyond just cost considerations. In the breakout session, Torben Weilmuenster from Merz Pharma GmbH & Co KGaA Reinheim shared his vision for a sustainable future plant. He discussed key themes such as: - Silver society: lifelong learning, retirement, pro-aging, preventive health, digital health, and universal design - New work: remote working, work-life balance, corporate health, co-working, human relations, and flexicurity (flexibility and security) - Connectivity: AI, playfulness, business ecosystems, IoT, smart cities, and autonomous driving, including transportation design within and in/out of the factory - Neo-ecology: bio boom, green pressure, mindfulness, sharing economy, zero waste, and decarbonization The highlight for me – besides the networking outdoor dinner - was Mauricio Morales from Würth Industrie Service GmbH & Co. KG. His presentation on balancing efficiency and resilience through Total Cost of Ownership was spot on considering what is front of mind for many of my clients. He illustrated how automation and AI are revolutionizing their supply chain, handling 15,000 product requests a day with 80% of allocation decisions made by a bot. 💡 Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to act as a catalyst for a wide variety of transaction types. How to successfully manage an M&A transaction? This question was at the heart of the lecture by Daniel Jagar, valuation expert at KPMG Frankfurt, and Sebastian Schulze, Marburg Alumni also with KPMG, delivered over the last three weeks at the The Philipp University of Marburg. Despite a high inflation environment and ambiguous interest rate expectations, merger and acquisition (M&A) transaction volume remains robust in Germany according to insights from KPMG (KPMG, 2024, https://lnkd.in/eVgdQ3wZ). However, the risks of implementing such deals (including regulation change, antitrust, and ESG scrutiny) motivate an understanding of the strategic, accounting, and valuation principles that underscore effective M&A transactions. How can one evaluate a given acquisition? How does M&A affect the company financials? And how can M&A be implemented as an effective lever of strategic transformation? These questions, among others, are precisely what were discussed in the lecture “Mergers and Acquisitions”, recently offered by the Management Accounting Research Group (MARG) @ UMR in cooperation with KPMG. Daniel Jagar and Sebastian Schulze provided students with the fundamentals of the M&A deal life cycle, emphasizing due diligence, firm valuation, and managerial consequences. Tanja Kewes and Handelsblatt reporting today on our 2024 analysis of German DAX Supervisory Boards. The 14th edition of this study by Russell Reynolds Associates shows that while in its first year female representation was at 7% now 40% have been achieved. It goes without saying that an ideal board composition needs to take many other aspects into account, but all considered, DAX Supervisory Boards improved over the years - still leaving some potential to be unlocked.

We are excited to share our latest publication titled "Board Responsibility for Irresponsibility: The Link Between Board Structure and Corporate Scandals." It took us quite a while, but finally we could publish the paper in the Schmalenbach Journal of Business Research. In this paper, Dr. Christian Kreuzer and I analyze an international dataset of over 6,100 companies across 44 countries from 2002–2018 to explore the relationship between board structures and corporate scandals. Our findings reveal some intriguing insights: Positively associated with scandals are: High CSR efforts Busy board members Negatively associated with scandals are: Qualified and skilled boards Interestingly, no clear evidence was found concerning the impact of gender diversity, independent board members, and board size on corporate scandals.
