#Accenture's "Reinventing M&A with GenAI" strategy paper is worth reading if you're involved in any shape or form in such happenings. They make a fair point: charmed as M&A experts might now be about the pre-M&A support GenAI offers, Drucker's maxim that “Execution (post-deal) eats strategy (predeal) for breakfast.” need not be overlooked. In my field, of post-M&A integration of HR operating models and organizational design, mapping business needs with roles and then the right talent has not changed for tens of years. We are too slow. We often do not account for employee sentiment and are still too superficial in outlining cultural differences - so we often fail to harvest the intended benefits of the deals. If GenAI is already able to help with that, we need to stop leaving money on the table by upskilling & upgrading our ways of working. This is the best leverage we've had in years to make sure M&As are hurting people less and yielding more financial benefits.
