What a privilege and honor to be in the #OrganizationalHappiness Certification program through UPEACE Centre for Executive Education and the instruction of Lars Kure Juul We are part of a global cohort of changemakers, helping organizations and clients make Organizational Happiness a strategic priority! After 5 sessions, we will join the 200 others that have completed this course. Our homework this week was fascinating, uncovering the business case of org happiness. I especially loved the TEDX talk, "The Way We Work" This week, we discussed: 1. Our final projects -- Cohort, Check out the GamePlan Graphic -- we present at Session 5. Reach out to anyone of us to talk through. 2. Reminder of self-compassion from Lars "Be good to yourself." 3. Although not good for the long game and burnout prevention...Research shows that you CAN have compassion for others, without self-compassion. 4. YES, AND thinking is so very important. We can be valuable, and flawed. 5. Remember compassion and curiosity -- Less judgement. 6. We discussed the power of HOPE in a small group! SO POWERFUL 7. Data, Data, Data!!! How are you collecting it? What are you measuring? How often? How is it shared with the org? 8. Be wary of once a year engagement surveys....OLD DATA! Think instead of frequent pulse checks, with real-time data. 9. ROI. How long does an org have to wait to see the results? I don't know the answer to my question. Change does take time. 10. It might be easier to start with retention/turnover data, and relate those stats to the bottom line, and the people case. Loss of institutional knowledge, relationships, etc. Studies show that the cost to replace an employee is TWICE the annual salary! YIKES, but true !! 11. LARS -- Under promise and over deliver. Is this your motto? 12. Check out the work of Boston Scientific in Central America over the week. 13. Lots of valuable time in break out rooms, learning from/with each other. 14. My first time as a podcast guest, and was very fortunate that was as a guest of Charlotte Stebbing-Mills. Throughly enjoyed our conversation, and suspect we could have gone on for (much) longer!
