#WDHN - See new RFI from Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) on #AI and #data Given the fragmented nature of available data sets, ARPA-H may have analytical needs surrounding the curation and integration of data sets. The Agency seeks technologies that can be used to link records for individuals using privacy preserving record linkage techniques (PPRL) across all data sets. Additionally, ARPA-H is exploring potential models by which integrated data sets could be made available to the broader research community, complying with relevant privacy and ethics agreements while also lowering the barriers to access for the data. This RFI invites respondents to identify potential economic models, limitations, and potential restrictions in this topic area. RFI needs:  #1: Real World Health Care Data  The agency wishes to establish a repository of RWD related to the health and health care of the United States population including but not limited to:  - Electronic Health Records (EHR)  - Public and private payer claims   - Prescription claims  - Diagnostic testing  - Social Determinants of Health (SDOH)  - Socioeconomic factors, such as housing insecurity, financial insecurity, psychological pressures, discrimination, etc.  - Geolocated environmental factors and associated data  - Pollutants, climate, wastewater testing, toxicology, etc. #2: Data Curation and Integration  ARPA-H seeks solutions to ensure that data can be federated and integrated for maximum utility including linkage of individuals across data sets using privacy preserving record linkage (PPRL) methods. #3: Real World Data as a “Public Utility”  One potential is a federated data resource available to the research community as a “public utility.” The agency is seeking industry input on the potential economic models that might support such a public utility model, enabling research by lowering barriers to data access while fairly compensating vendors for their investments. The agency is also interested in understanding potential limits on data usage as it pertains to privacy, intellectual property, and data rights concerns, as well as mitigation strategies addressing these concerns. People around the world are facing unprecedented threats to their well-being, health, and survival, according to The Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change's latest report. The report reveals rapidly changing climate is impacting communities everywhere with rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and increased risks of wildfires and droughts. Alarmingly, 10 out of 15 key indicators monitoring climate-related #health hazards have reached record-breaking levels. 📈🚨 Despite these challenges, some progress is being made: the number of countries having developed #climatechange and health Vulnerability and Adaptation assessments grew from 11 in 2022 to 50 in 2023 and those having completed their Health National Adaptation Plans increased from 4 to 43. IRA funding secured, now what? 🤷‍  HARC’s Director of Strategic Initiatives and External Affairs, Marina V. Badoian-Kriticos, will be moderating a panel discussion on the next steps for utilities and local government agencies post-Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Grants. This panel at the SPEER Industry and Policy Workshop in Austin, TX, on September 20th, 2024 will share their experiences after having recently received their grant awards. They will dive into the journey of managing federal grants, from application to project execution, offering insights to optimize the entire process, and ensure lasting impacts on their communities. The IRA funds a variety of projects addressing climate and energy challenges. HARC Is collaborating on multiple IRA-funded projects, including the ForUsTree initiative designed to address tree equity issues in Houston, and the Texas Solar for All Coalition which aims to bridge the solar equity gap in underserved communities. CAIS is excited to announce the publication of a Special Issue article on the future of AIS conferences, "Generating Stakeholder Value Through Increasingly Hybridized Conferences: Insights from 30 Years of ACIS Conferences", by Mary Tate, Victoria University of Wellington, Sander Paul Zwanenburg, University of Otago, and Rodney J. Clarke, University of Wollongong. The abstract: "In the last few years, changes to the Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS) have accelerated in response to COVID-19, as well as climate change, technological advances, and trends in the tertiary sector. These underlying conditions have generated much discussion within annual conference committees and their partners. These discussions were ongoing before the pandemic but have increased in importance as a result of the pandemic and a trend towards hybridization and virtualization of some or all conference events. In this paper, we distill these ongoing discussions and apply them specifically to the issues identified in a recent AIS task force report on conference virtualization. We identify the stakeholders in the conference ecosystem and the risks they would incur from poor quality conference experiences. Through this analysis we provide 57 recommendations to mitigate the risks of a poor conference experience and to improve value-creation opportunities. We hope our recommendations and reflections can advance the debate and help conferences continuously adapt to their changing environment to realize their potential to generate value for their IS communities."
