Women's health isn't having just a moment. This is a movement that together we all turned into a mandate for change. This community of women's health leaders and contributors in R&D, finance, innovation, commercialization, communication, policy and advocacy...ALL have made progress possible that will continue in 2025 and for years to come. Thanks to First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, President Biden and Maria Shriver who all made the White House Initiative on Women's Health Research possible, this Initiative has served as the convening and momentum-building force that spread like wildfire across the nation. Women were 27% of U.S. House candidates, 23% of Senate candidates, and 20% of gubernatorial candidates in #Elections2024. In 2025, there will be 148 women (109 Democrats, 39 Republicans) in the 119th Congress (27.7%), which is below the current record: 151, set in 2023. Of the 151 women (107 Democrats, 43 Republicans, 1 Independent) in Congress (28.2%) now, 5 (3 Ds, 2 Rs) women candidates remain in congressional contests that are too close to call. Thirteen women (8 Ds, 5 Rs) will serve as governors in 2025, marking a new record (previous record: 12, first set in 2023). Women will be 26% of all governors in the U.S. Currently, 12 (8 Ds, 4 Rs) women serve as governor, holding 24% of all seats. Freshmen in 2025 are below, per The Center for American Women and Politics
