    🎉 What an incredible journey! Today we celebrate the achievements of our Lab2Market British Columbia Discover Cohort 1 participants, funders, mentors, and supporters. It is inspiring to see such brilliant researchers transforming their ideas into impactful ventures. Through invaluable conversations with potential customers and stakeholders, they’ve taken bold steps toward creating meaningful change. While it’s bittersweet to wrap up our time as a cohort, we are beyond proud of the progress these entrepreneurial leads have made by stepping out of their comfort zones—and out of the lab! 🌟 A huge thank you to the remarkable team who made this program possible: Lynn Jennifer Kulli, Kendra Payne, Jani Tsui, Carolina Almeida, Mary Oyeneyin, CAPM, and Grace Sullivan.     What an incredible four months it’s been at SFU VentureLabs! As I wrap up my co-op term as a Marketing Associate, I’m grateful for the opportunities, challenges, and growth I’ve experienced. During this time, I had the chance to: 🔹 Develop targeted social media strategies, boosting engagement by 80% 📊 Create marketing plans and content strategies to support startups 📧 Design newsletters for 2,500+ subscribers with a 30% click-to-open rate 🎉 Organize events like Tech & Toast, driving a 153% increase in registrations A heartfelt thank you to SFU VentureLabs for this amazing experience. Special thanks to Vivien Lee and Grace Sullivan for your invaluable mentorship, guidance, and encouragement - you’ve been instrumental in my growth. Shoutout to my amazing teammates, Yixuan Liu and Yuta Koike, for being a part of my journey here, for making this journey so meaningful. This co-op taught me the value of strategic storytelling, event planning, and relationship-building. Collaborating with startups sharpened my creativity, adaptability, and impact. It has solidified my passion for marketing and innovation, and I’m excited to carry these lessons into future opportunities.

    On December 16, we held the third Market Validation Training (MVT) session. Thank you to Tonie G., Lynn Warburton (she/her), Peter de Verteuil, Floyd Sijmons, and Dave Thomas for delivering the session on telling brand story, identifying content marketing, communicating influencers, and building partnership. In partnership with New Ventures BC, the MVT program has supported over 1100 companies in validating their markets, refining their concepts, and setting themselves up for success.🚀 We are also grateful to Innovate BC for supporting the program, which enables us to continue empowering companies with essential resources. 🌟 Stay tuned for a recap of our last session on January 13.✨

Their project, supported by Innovate BC's #Ignite program, secured $300,000 to address lifestyle diseases like diabetes and obesity. By developing chia-based fat mimetics, they are creating healthier, low-calorie food options with the potential to revolutionize global well-being. This achievement highlights the power of innovation, collaboration, and dedication to transforming lives through science.
