Today marks the end of an incredible journey with the Lab2Market Validate - Alberta cohort, and I am filled with gratitude and excitement as I reflect on our time together. Thank you to the Lab2Market team, mentors, partners, and all my fellow participants for your support, and insights throughout this experience. I feel incredibly lucky to have been admitted into this great program. Special thanks to our facilitators Wendy Vrooman, Michael McCarthy, Bruce Alton, and my Technical mentor Talat Iqbal Syed for their invaluable guidance and support. I especially want to thank Bruce Alton for his unwavering dedication, he spent countless hours helping me refine VisioConTech's business model and strategy, always offering insightful feedback and encouragement. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the program manager, Claire Kay for her dedication and support throughout this journey, as well as my supervisor, Vicente A. Gonzalez, for his mentorship and encouragement. It has been inspiring to learn from such brilliant minds and to see how far we’ve come in transforming our research into impactful ventures. Through this program, I’ve gained invaluable knowledge about business and entrepreneurship, learned the importance of stepping out of the lab, and embraced customer discovery to better align our innovations with real-world needs. I look forward to continuing the journey with VisioConTech, expanding our customer discovery efforts, and taking steps toward launching my own company. Congratulations to all my cohort members on your achievements and excellent presentations. The future is bright, and I’m excited to see what’s next for all of us #Lab2Market #Entrepreneurship #ResearchImpact #VisioConTech #Edmonton #Alberta #UniversityOfAlberta #NRC #Albertainnovate
The Lab2Market Alberta program celebrated the accomplishments of its cohort 1 Validate participants today with an audience of funders, partners and mentors. It’s a very exciting time with so many brilliant researchers taking steps to create impact from their research, and doing so in an informed fashion as a result of their conversations with potential customers and other stakeholders. Although it's bittersweet to say goodbye to our time together as a cohort, as a team we were so impressed with the entrepreneurial leads’ progress as a result of them getting out of the lab and the building 🌟 Thank you to everyone who was able to join today, and congratulations to Gunjan Vasudeva, Ola Mabrouk, Khulood Alqaydi, Sorosh Abdollahi, Dr. Abdullah Mohiuddin, PhD, Ozioma Akakuru, Mozhgan Sabz, Zahra Samadikhoshkho, Mohammad Keshmiri, David Enoma, Ruoheng Zhang, Saeid Kalantari, Somayeh Raiesdana, Reza Safarzadeh, Zhitong(Lynn) Lin, Shamanth Shankarnarayan, Mohamed Sabek and Muskaan Puri on your excellent presentations. 🌟

Just how much can you learn in 3 months not only about your research idea as a potential startup, but also about who you are a budding entrepreneur? Quite a lot, judging by the the final presentations for Quebec's Lab2Market Validation's Fall 2024, run by V1 Studio. After making dozens of calls to potential clients and stakeholders, many participants validated that they were on the right track or pivoted towards a new path, but everyone came out with crucial information, a much larger network, and improved social skills for the next steps of their entrepreneurial journey. Congrats 👏

October went by in a flash 💥 , but was packed with great events and opportunities for MycoFutures, so I wanted to recap the month and share our updates: 📢 I pitched in the University of Toronto Entrepreneurship showcase at Elevate, hosted by Jon French. I was also front row at Tegan & Sara's fireside chat. So cool to see one of my favourite bands talk about their creative and professional evolution. 🎥 Leo and I were part of a special project that filmed at SpinUp at UTM. We won't be able to share until next year, but it is very exciting that we can promote our work and our message with a broader audience. 🍁 I attended the kickoff for the current cohort of Communitech Fierce Founders Uplift that I was selected for. I'm very pleased to be working with Allison Mitchell, CLC and Mike Kirkup. 🌱 At AZURE Media's inaugural Human/Nature conference, I sat on a panel with inspiring designer-innovators at CICIL & COMMON OBJECT and spent two days immersed in the intersection of sustainability, design and creativity. 🎉 I presented my final pitch to the investors for SheBoot. Lots of hard work went into my final deck and presentation. I will post more about my amazing experience in the program after the grand finale next week. 💚 I had the pleasure of speaking on a panel with fellow founders and materials innovators, Myra Arshad, Christian Euler, PhD and Srinivasa Reddy at Lab2Market Summit, moderated by Moien Giashi, PhD. 💪 I attended the The51 Toronto Roundtable and got to catch up with some powerhouse women investors, ecosystem stakeholders and founders. There's more to come in November! 👀 We'll be seeing you! 🍄
