This year, GBPLO extended a unique opportunity to help shape the next generation of legal professionals in Georgia. We offered lucrative partnerships to four leading Georgian universities, providing scholarships, training, and mentorship programs to support university students. But here’s the surprising part, only one of them took advantage of it. It’s a reminder of how much potential we have to invest in young talent, but also how important it is for institutions to seize these opportunities when they arise. What can be done to make sure these opportunities aren’t missed?

Not 1 but 2 articles from me this week on the international student caps: 1. Firstly why I think many universities are wrong to expect the removal of Ministerial Direction 107 to be a silver bullet for the recent decline in their international student numbers, and 2. Why the impact of the caps is most profound on quality private VET providers (and if you don't know much about the private VET sector beyond the awful media headlines - the best of them are led by people who are decent, kind, dedicated entrepreneurs with a passion for education). But because many VET courses are only 12 months long - a provider's cap of new international students will very quickly become their total number of international students... And hence the impact on this part of the sector will be so severe. The stories I've been hearing about the toll this is taking on institutional leaders and the staff they are already making redundant is deeply upsetting. You can read both articles on the News page of my website: https://lnkd.in/gt2aMy9i

I recently finished my fellowship at the Institute for Youth in Policy (YIP), and the experience was honestly amazing. The program offered a really interesting curriculum delivered over two intensive months. This period was immensely enriching, giving me a fresh perspective on how I see things. The dedication and collaborative spirit fostered by YIP were truly inspiring. The program's value was such that I consistently made an effort to attend sessions, even as early as 4:30 am IST, to ensure I actively contributed to discussions (and trust me, it was worth it). My Takeaways: -This Fellowship seriously took my research skills to the next level. While making my capstone project the amount of research I had to do, I had to understand how to find credible sources, and I had to make sure all my statements were backed up by sources. -Working with all my other talented fellows at YIP showed me the importance of collaboration and communication. I thank them for being so supportive and encouraging. -YIP taught me how to set clear goals, not get carried away from the topic at hand, and divide my work into manageable chunks. -YIP gave me a new perspective on how to look at policy in itself and how to always dig deeper to get to the grassroots level of anything. This experience was just something else. From making strategies for an election candidate to delivering the closing statements for an International Criminal Court Mock Trial to discussing major socio-economic issues, this experience is one I will never forget.

I just had to share Ishan’s post! His enthusiasm about his most recent experience is infectious and truly worth spreading. Check out his post below and feel the inspiration! #Learning #ProfessionalGrowth #KnowledgeSharing
Thank you Australia! 🇦🇺 Here are my three key takeaways from a week spent with educators from across ANZ at our Inspera breakfast seminars in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Flexible assessment with integrity has always been deeply embedded in curricula here. We were heard a range of voices from across academia and professional staff on how they want to keep their assessment valid, reliable, engaging and innovative. Fantastic to spend time with my colleagues Grant Beevers and Paul Dourlay and our three guest speakers Alex Steel from UNSW, Phillip Dawson from Deakin and Stan Karanasios from UQ.
