📣 EWABA attended the General Assembly of the Working Group on Monitoring Methodologies (#WGMM) this week in Brussels. The WGMM or else 'Stuttgart Group' has officially handed over its key report on "Monitoring the use of CO2 neutral fuels in road transport" to the European Commission. 🔎 The most recent European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) statistics show a trend that cannot be overlooked. For the first nine months of 2024, new electric truck and van sales in the European Union saw a decrease compared to the same period a year earlier. 📉 New electrically chargeable vans experienced a steep decline of 12.8% on the year, while diesel-powered EU vans maintained a stable 84.6% market share ⛽️ Diesel trucks represented 95.3% of new EU registrations, while new electric chargeable trucks declined by 6.6% from 2023 🔌Electrically chargeable bus registrations increased by 28.7% but total market share only saw a minor adjustment to 15.9%, from 14.4% in 2023 The slower uptake in EV registrations across the EU's commercial vehicles sector showcase the need to shift our strategy and strengthen our focus on renewable liquid fuels produced domestically. 🇪🇺♻️ ⛽️📈 We can achieve immediate GHG reductions by using higher blends of renewable fuels such as #biofuels and waste-based #biodiesel in our trucks, vans and buses across the EU!
