🔬 Promising preclinical alleviation of dysbiosis in non-breastfed infants with Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA) 🔬 📢 We are thrilled to announce our latest publication in gut microbiome research, in collaboration with Nestlé Health Science published in Beneficial Microbes. 🌐 Contributing to applied research with the potential to improve the quality of life of infants made this study particularly rewarding. We utilised the predictive, ex vivo SIFR technology to evaluate the potential of HMOs-lactose combinations to address dysbiosis in CMPA infants. Leveraging the high throughput of this validated methodology, 12 donors were included to map interpersonal differences. 📊 Key findings for lactose addition to HMO formulae: - stronger SCFA production - stimulation of HMO-utilising Bifidobacteriaceae and reduction in Clostridiaceae - stronger production of health-related metabolites pertaining to gut-brain axis, immune health, and gut motility 📈 We are happy to share those promising results, that will need to be confirmed in clinical trials. 🤝🏼 Thank you to all authors for your contribution: Pieter Van den Abbeele, Ralf Heine, Michiel Van de Vliet, Laurent Favre, Hanne Tytgat, Norbert Sprenger, Stef Deyaert, Aurélien Baudot and Sophie Nutten.
