The Simberi sulphide expansion operation announced will create economic growth which would benefit Papua New Guineans and increase revenue and profits for the company. Economic Growth: As the project expands, it may create more jobs both directly within the company and indirectly in related sectors (e.g., logistics, equipment supply, and services). This boosts the local economy and can lead to improved living standards for workers and communities around the project. Increased Revenues and Profits: With the ability to produce and sell more products, the expansion should lead to an increase in revenue for the company. This is a critical indicator of positive growth and financial health for the operation. Such move and deal is commended for it is in the best interest of the people of PNG and the core investors.

Aeris Resources Limited recently announced an update on the Feasibility Study underway on its 100% owned Stockman Project in Victoria, where the Albion Process™ has played a key role in the new metallurgical testwork. The latest testwork produced an export-quality copper concentrate and bulk concentrate (copper/zinc/gold/silver) with improved metal recoveries utilising a modified flotation circuit at the onsite ore processing plant. This was then followed by an Albion Process™ for metal leaching that produced +98% recoveries of copper and zinc from the bulk concentrate, bringing overall recoveries of these metals to >90%, whilst also significantly improving the overall recovery of gold. This has the potential to enhance the project's overall economics through higher metal recoveries, a smaller physical plant footprint, lower capital and operating costs, and reduced energy consumption and carbon emissions. The recipe for being popular in Australia right now is to run a surplus, to keep the Opposition shut up about fiscal rectitude, and then fight inflation-caused cost of living pressures by spending that surplus on...energy rebates. I say inflation-caused loosely, because corporatocracy-entrenched energy policy that explicitly works to concentrate market power into regulatory capture regimes, which inevitably results in more extravagant concentration of generation power into fewer and fewer corporate 'base-load' generators (or, next decade, grid scale renewables and battery backups owned by corporates and funds), versus pushing generation and storage down to atomised levels of households, microgrids and technology solutions like V2G, distributed grids, demand management, etc. Inflation has little to do with energy costs; energy costs cause inflation. But anyway, energy rebates are simple populism, but entrench energy inefficient behaviors, delaying renewable grid transitions, offsetting costs of inefficient behavior or household infrastructure, and entrenching high energy use into the built environment and energy use expectations. Perfect for the corporatocracy when the surpluses end.

The market was hard on S2 Resources Ltd this morning, knocking the share 8% from 10c to 9.2c on the back of hole SFVD008 assays. Eight holes have been drilled in the Goornong Prospect in the Great Fosterville Project, north of Melbourne. • 0.6 metres @ 1.7g/t gold from 163.9 metres; • 3.4 metres @ 1.0g/t gold from 181 metres; • 3.5 metres @ 2.4g/t gold from 358.2 metres; • 0.55 metres @ 1.2g/t gold from 377.25 metres; • 0.55 metres @ 1.8g/t gold from 380.7 metres. So it would appear that the grade peters out as you head north. For the southern holes, closer to Fosterville mine, are richer: • 5.2 metres @ 7.2g/t gold from 490 metres in SFVD0005 including 0.7 metres @ 37.9g/t gold from 492.8 metres; • 2.0 metres @ 2.0g/t gold from 309 metres in SFVD0006; • 5.7 metres @ 6.4g/t gold from 344 metres in SFVD0007 including 2.15 metres @ 14.1g/t gold from 347.55 metres;  Fosterville mine lies 3 km to the south, and though the miracle of SniffSat, you can see the orebody outlined in the dirt by natural hydrogen seeping out of the disseminated sulfides and quartz-carbonate veins which host the gold. Woke up with a question in my head (as I do most days!) ... and went looking for the answer ... The all inclusive cost of exploration ... and how different is the cost of drilling new vs known deposits? ... well, in Australia, the cost of exploration per meter drilled has doubled over the last five years (CPI indexed to 2023). Next question: - Has our discovery rate doubled in that time? Corollary Question 1: - What has caused this increase in costs? technology? people? permitting? Corollary Question 2: - Has technology over last 5 to 7 years improved discovery rates? (... the problem with answering questions ... there are always more questions buried beneath!)

Webinar | Draft Eligible Mining Activity Regulation Join EIANZ and NELA webinar for a deep dive into the proposed changes to the Eligible Mining Activity (EMA) Framework in Western Australia. Introduced in 2022 by the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS), the Eligible Mining Activity Framework in WA enables certain minimal disturbance and low-impact activities to be automatically authorised without an environmental assessment. DEMIRS has since revised the criteria for an EMA in its draft EMA Regulations, which specify permitted and prohibited activities, conditions and requirements under an EMA Notice and other critical aspects. The draft regulation is currently open for consultation. This webinar, co-hosted by EIANZ and NELA, will delve into the potential impacts of these proposed changes on prospecting and exploration activities within the mining industry. The KLC has raised significant concerns with the Minister for Mines and Petroleum regarding the Western Australian Government’s failure to fulfill critical commitments on hydraulic fracture stimulation (fracking) in the region. In response to the 2018 final report from the Independent Scientific Panel Inquiry into Hydraulic Fracture Stimulation, the WA Government released an implementation plan in July 2019, outlining 20 key actions aimed at implementing the inquiry's recommendations. Alarmingly, half of these actions remain unfulfilled, including vital measures such as the right of consent for Traditional Owners (Action 5a) and an enforceable code of practice (Action 11). The completion dates for these actions are now more than two years overdue. KLC CEO Tyronne Garstone has called for a halt on all fracking proposals until the key actions in the implementation plan are fully enacted. “Without these essential measures in place, Western Australia’s regulatory framework for fracking is incomplete and inadequate. The lack of critical information necessary for informed decision-making raises significant concerns about the integrity of any fracking approvals. The KLC firmly believes that no fracking proposals should be considered for approval by government until key actions in the implementation plan are fully enacted.” Read more in The West Australian or on the newsroom section of the KLC website.

Coda Minerals has released an updated Scoping Study for its 100%-owned Elizabeth Creek Copper-Cobalt-Silver Project in South Australia. The revised study delivers a material uplift in project economics, reflecting improved recoveries of copper and silver, the addition of a new open pit deposit, and optimised mining methods. The study forecasts a 57% increase in post-tax NPV(7) to $802 million and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 35%. The project will proceed in two phases, including early copper-cobalt concentrate production and the development of a hydrometallurgical plant to produce high-value products such as copper cathode and battery-grade cobalt sulphate. Chris Stevens, CEO of Coda Minerals, stated: “The revised Elizabeth Creek Scoping Study both reinforces and materially strengthens the already exceptional technical, geographic and economic characteristics of the project. Through a combination of hard work and increased knowledge of the Project, we now have a pre-tax NPV of over $1.1 billion." 💰🎯MinRes sells 49% interest in Onslow Iron haul road for $1.3 billion Chris Ellison over at Mineral Resources Limited has nailed yet another great deal. Not only has MinRes delivered this highly complex (Onslow Iron) project, on budget, and ahead of what was already a highly ambitious (record breaking) schedule, the company has already recycled a chunk of the invested capital. At some stage I'll post on the critical importance of the sustained source of competitive advantage MinRes has developed, through its in-house construction business (I've included a key slide in the comments ⬇). The fact that MinRes can self-perform (project execution), means MinRes can move quick, create and unlock value, on timelines where the majors would still be "performing exploratory studies". When running a DCF model, this condensed project realisation timetable, maximises value creation, and is a de-risking strategy in itself. Hands down, MinRes can make things happen, like no other, at least in Australian mining. The fact that MinRes achieved $1.3 billion for a 49% stake on a road it has barely finished constructing, provides visibility on the value of the remaining 51%. The cash and equity value here, is roughly equivalent to the cost of the entire Onslow Iron project. The track-record of smart capital allocation at MinRes is unrivalled in Australian mining. MinRes has grand plans to also rapidly expand its energy (gas) business in WA, it already owns one of the largest global lithium businesses, and is rumoured to be exploring opportunities in other commodities including nickel, and potentially other geographies, including Africa. Do you remember, all those days ago, for it has not been many, when the nickel price slumped and the WA and Federal government were told they needed to tip hundreds of millions in subsidies and royalty relief into the miners to keep them afloat? How much money did the State of Western Australia forego in royalties and subsidies and in the future Production Tax Credit conned out of everyone by AMEC et al.? Was it akin to the $240M that MinRes and Ellison conned out of Western Australia during a temporary slump in iron ore, to keep Koolyanobbing open till 2024? Was 700 jobs for 5 or so years really worth $240M? When those workers would get redeployed, or just naturally find a job elsewhere in a buoyant resources sector. BHP Nickel West is now shutting down. The support has done nothing. Now Nickel West is going to knock sulphuric acid supply out, and prices will go up and supply will be tight, in the most expensive acid jurisdiction in the world. How long before Glencore demands a PTC, royalty relief, subsidies and tax breaks (not that it pays much), to keep Murrin Murrin open? And how long until we lose out on that deal and they close it the moment the subsidies disappear? I'm not taking bets, it's a certainty. Can we be better as capitalists, and let these mines close without them taking down everyone else?

Ora Banda Mining Ltd (ASX:OBM) has completed the $26 million sale of non-gold mineral rights at the Davyhurst Project in Western Australia and has received a second cash payment of $11.71 million. This sale is part of a farm-in arrangement with Davyston Exploration Pty Ltd (DEPL), a wholly-owned company in the Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers division (WesCEF). The remaining $4.29 million will be paid on April 30, 2024, at which point Ora Banda will have received the full $26 million cash consideration due under the DEPL transaction. Ora Banda will also receive a 2% royalty from DEPL in respect of all other minerals but expects to receive an additional $4 million from Hawkes Point for effectively on-selling 1.5% of that royalty.
