  • Integrated mineral extraction from Australian salt lakes mediated by a novel induced chemical precipitation system.

ARC Industrial Transformation Research Hub for Energy Efficient Separation Hub (EESep)

This project seeks to optimise and enhance a novel process known as aMES™ which has the following
    key features:
    • Recovers high purity minerals;
    • Energy and water efficient; and
    • Cost and environmental savings.

    KEY RESULTS
The key results are: effective aMES™ process flow sheet demonstrated; high grade Halite, Sylvite and Leonite intermediate products produced at bench scale and verified in pilot plant; SOP produced from the intermediate salts at room temperature. The…

    KEY RESULTS
The key results are: effective aMES™ process flow sheet demonstrated; high grade Halite, Sylvite and Leonite intermediate products produced at bench scale and verified in pilot plant; SOP produced from the intermediate salts at room temperature. The method demonstrated SOP produced with ultra-pure grade >K2O-52 similar to commercial SOP product grade; tests conducted on various feedstocks verified optimisation of process conditions that achieve desired chemical mechanisms to produce the same high grade products. Process parameters include dissolution, crystallisation, and kinetics; and working process does not require flotation or process steam.

    • Consolidated Potash Corp. (CPC) satisfies requirements to acquire initial 15% of KLPP and establish a Joint Venture with Verdant Minerals as per the Joint Venture Agreement announced to the ASX on 10 August 2017.
    • First high-purity sulphate of potash (SOP) samples produced from KLPP brine/salt feedstock utilising CPC’s innovative aMESTM technology.
    • Through the expenditure of A$1 million, CPC has successfully completed significant bench scale and pilot test work as well as a Scoping Study based on the utilisation of aMESTM technology for the potential development of KLPP.
    • This work underpins the potential to progress detailed feasibility studies for the development of an initially small scale sulphate of potash (SOP) production operation.
    • CPC has the right to earn an additional 25% in the project by spending a further A$2 million.
    • Verdant Minerals and CPC will evaluate strategic opportunities to unlock value from both the KLPP project and the aMESTM technology package more broadly.

  • Tuzla Geothermal Power Project - Pre-Feasibility Study

    Imparator Enerji

    KEY FINDINGS
    • Pre-feasibility study (PFS) validates Imparator Enerji’s plans for large-scale (30 MWe) expansion of the Tuzla Geothermal Power Project (TGPP).
    • Detailed financial modelling of a 30 MWe Kalina Cycle® conceptual development at the TGPP, with indicative NPV of $142 million and indicative IRR of 57%, providing strong investment case.
    • Expansion project underpinned by updated resource estimate indicating the most-likely (P50) size of the TGPP geothermal resource is…

  • The global outlook for specialty liquid fertiliser adoption in agricultural systems.

Agrichem, in conjunction with The University of Melbourne.

A confidential report prepared for the CEO of Agrichem, for the purposes of evaluating global expansion opportunities. Following evaluation of the report, Bahay assumed several strategic roles with Agrichem, including Group Manager of Business Development & Marketing, in which capacity he led the adoption of several key recommendations, particularly regarding product mix, path to market, and supply chain related initiatives.

  • Plant Biotechnology Centre - Strategic Plan 2006 - 2015

    Victorian Department of Primary Industries

The strategic planning document provides a detailed overview and analysis of the important aspects relating to the Plant Biotechnology Centre with particular consideration given to the objectives of the organisation, a detailed internal and external analysis, examination of relevant strategies, identification of strategic issues and finally an action plan to ensure that sustained competitive advantage can be maintained and improved heading towards 2015.

  • Investigating the usefulness of four novel treatments on improving the regeneration of immature wheat (Tritium aestivum L.) embryos.

University of Melbourne - in association with Victorian DPI

Effective genetic transformation rates at the time were languishing at rates below 5%, thereby reducing the effectiveness of plant biotechnology mediated plant breeding programs. In 2003, as part of a collaborative research project between The University of Melbourne and the Victorian Department of Primary Industries, Bahay led the research, design and development of a treatment protocol that resulted in a substantial improvement in regeneration capacity.
