Webinar | Draft Eligible Mining Activity Regulation Join EIANZ and NELA webinar for a deep dive into the proposed changes to the Eligible Mining Activity (EMA) Framework in Western Australia. Introduced in 2022 by the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS), the Eligible Mining Activity Framework in WA enables certain minimal disturbance and low-impact activities to be automatically authorised without an environmental assessment. DEMIRS has since revised the criteria for an EMA in its draft EMA Regulations, which specify permitted and prohibited activities, conditions and requirements under an EMA Notice and other critical aspects. The draft regulation is currently open for consultation. This webinar, co-hosted by EIANZ and NELA, will delve into the potential impacts of these proposed changes on prospecting and exploration activities within the mining industry. Speakers will provide an overview of the draft EMA Regulations, detail the prescribed conditions, and provide an analysis on the broader industry implications of the proposed regulation amendment. Come along to this insightful session to ensure you stay ahead in the evolving mining regulatory landscape. When: 26 June 2024, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM. Cost: Free for EIANZ and NELA Members | $5 for Non-members https://lnkd.in/drJ5qJnh

Leading Edge Materials has submitted an application for a 25-year mining concession for its Norra Kärr rare earth project. Earlier this summer, the company also applied for recognition of the project as a strategic initiative under the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act, which could accelerate the approval process. However, obtaining the mining concession is just one step; additional requirements before mining can commence include environmental assessments, for example. #criticalminerals #rareearths #mining #miningnews

Denison Announces Completion of Inaugural ISR Field Test Program at Midwest. David Cates, Denison's President & CEO, commented "Denison would like to thank Orano Canada for its support and encouragement of our joint efforts to evaluate the Midwest Main deposit for potential future extraction via ISR mining. Orano has significant global expertise in ISR mining and Denison brings industry leadership in the advancement of ISR mining in the Athabasca Basin region – allowing the joint venture to assemble a very strong team to carry out and oversee this inaugural test program. The Program achieved its planned objectives, and the results provide preliminary validation that the Midwest Main deposit possesses the characteristics necessary for an ISR operation. Accordingly, further evaluation is warranted and, building on the Concept Study and incorporating the data acquired in the test program, we are proceeding with a Preliminary Economic Assessment ("PEA") for ISR mining. Midwest represents Denison's third project evaluated for potential ISR mining in the Athabasca Basin." Read the full press release here ⬇️ https://ow.ly/eRrb50S6KSn

Zoomer trouble: Mining has a Gen-Z problem If you are interested in the future of Canada’s mining labour force (there are dozens of us!) you will most certainly be familiar with one of the industry’s most notorious statistics: 70% of those between the ages of 15 and 30 would not consider a career in mining. The worst of all industries surveyed, below even oil and gas.

Deep Sea Mining ⚓ is having a bit of a moment. Between sudden regulatory attention (https://loom.ly/XPqUO04), promising technical innovations (https://loom.ly/uJ0ICHg), resource discoveries (https://loom.ly/U-64Gzo), and evolving environmental science (https://loom.ly/iORxfT4), the landscape (seascape?) is constantly shifting. How are you preparing for the Mining Industry's eventual plunge into the depths? As capital flows move, are you going to lead, follow, or get out of the way?

The life of junior mining companies is difficult by definition - the probability of success is very low, yet you have to come up with new ways to raise funding to continue exploration. No new exploration parties and drilling - no results. Without results, there will be no new deposits, no minerals produced, no technology and no industry development. But these connections are not obvious to most people. https://lnkd.in/g493PRru #mining #exploration #canada #sustainability
