We’re making a BIG upgrade to our Geelong Refinery so that we can produce the cleanest petrol ever made in Australia. The refinery recently received several key units for its new ultra-low sulphur gasoline (ULSG) plant to produce ultra-low sulphur petrol, aligning our local fuel quality standards to allow more fuel-efficient vehicles to come to Australia, providing better health and environmental benefits to our communities. This upgrade is just part of a pipeline of significant projects that we’re delivering at the Geelong Refinery. In October, we commissioned three 30 million litre diesel storage tanks to help bolster fuel security in Australia, and next year we will open Australia’s first publicly accessible renewable hydrogen refuelling station to demonstrate zero-emission technology for heavy vehicles. These projects all form part of the Viva Energy Hub in Geelong and play an important role in delivering cleaner fuels, supporting the nation’s fuel security, participating in the circular economy and preserving Australia’s sovereign manufacturing capability. Project Fast Facts: 💡 The ULSG plant will produce the cleanest petrol ever manufactured in Australia, with a sulphur content of less than 10 parts per million 💡 The ULSG plant is a $350m project, which includes a $125m contribution from the Australian Government through its Refinery Upgrade Program, part of the Fuel Security Package 💡 $200m of the entire budget is going into Australian procurement and construction contracts, with the majority of that going to businesses in the Geelong region 💡 Up to 300 people will be employed during the peak of construction activity 💡 The project means Geelong Refinery will produce petrol that complies with the Australian Government’s new fuel quality standards that come into effect on December 15, 2025 #ULSG #VivaEnergyHub #cleanerfuel

The Viva Energy Australia commercial team recently hosted our Resources and Industrial customers in Brisbane and Perth for a three-day Shell Lubricants Failure Diagnosis and Troubleshooting Workshop 💡 As the Shell Lubricants Macro Distributor in Australia, we're fortunate to leverage Shell’s in-house training expertise. We were lucky to welcome David McCormack, a Product Application Specialist from the UK as the training facilitator, who provided hands-on technical training. With 20 years of experience at Shell, David shared his extensive knowledge, helping attendees gain fundamental skills to identify and understand various failure mechanisms in engineering components. This tailored workshop brought together technical professionals from diverse engineering disciplines. Participants delved into modules emphasising root cause analysis (RCA) and problem-solving, backed by real-world examples of failed components. Delma Lipu from Ok Tedi Mining Limited shared, “I feel like I understand and can differentiate the failure mechanisms. Before the training, I used to say 'wear and tear' as the most probable causes, but now I can tell a good RCA story by looking at the information and evidence that present themselves.” We look forward to offering more training opportunities for our customers, enabling them to continue upskilling their technical knowledge and reducing equipment downtime. #sharingknowledge #workshop #customertraining

Viva Energy Australia was delighted to attend Ozpipe 2024: Sustainable Infrastructure - The Future is Now. The conference brought together pipe experts from Australia and across the globe, to discover how plastic pipes can be transformed sustainably to support commercial applications. In conjunction with the focus on environmental sustainability, the conference, organised by the Plastic Pipes Industry Association of Australia (PIPA), aims to educate the difference between plastic pipes fittings and single-use plastics, as well as advance plastic pipes for durability for safe and effective use in infrastructure. ”It was a great opportunity to learn about the diverse products and technologies used across the plastic pipe industry. Connecting with industry about the challenges in different areas was a valuable experience,” said Stephen Mirams, Polymers Technical Service Specialist at Viva Energy. #Ozpipe2024 #polymers #sustainability

At Viva Energy, we are revolutionising the Australian convenience retail market following our acquisition of Coles Express and the OTR Group. This is underpinned by a comprehensive IT transformation strategy designed to enhance the customer experience, realise operational efficiency, and drive sustainable growth. During the recent Melbourne CIO & CISO Executive Summit, GM Retail Technology, Digital & Transformation, Jason McNamara, shared compelling insights into how we are tackling the scale, complexity, and pace of this challenging technology transformation. Our incredible progress to date includes several market-leading firsts. A key part of our success is our "secret sauce" – a strong "One Team" culture, enabled and empowered leadership, and a LEAN/Agile mindset. These elements have been crucial in driving our transformation journey. Jason McNamara highlighted, "Our retail transition and growth strategy relies on us laying a foundation of scalable, sustainable digital capabilities, and accelerating the integration or replacement of existing technology ecosystems and processes. It’s all about 'Making Life Easy' for our guests and team members." We are proud of the strides we’ve made and the innovative solutions we have implemented. Our journey is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our team, and we are excited about the future as we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in the convenience retail market. Thank you to the Melbourne CIO & CISO community for your time and effort in bringing a great session to the summit. Your appreciation and feedback are invaluable as we continue our journey. #ITTransformation #DigitalInnovation #Leadership #Agile #OneTeam #VivaEnergyRetail Viva Energy Retail Viva Energy Australia

We're thrilled to share insights from Amanda Fleming's recent panel discussion at Microsoft Ignite. Viva Energy has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent months. With the acquisition of Coles Express and OTR, we've become the largest convenience and fuel mobility retailer in Australia, with a network of around 1,500 outlets and aiming for 2,000 in the near future. Key challenges for our team included a ten-fold increase in headcount and the massive task of overhauling technology across 670 stores. Lenovo played a crucial role in this journey, providing edge computing solutions that ensured operational resilience and faster transaction processing, even in remote locations. Amanda Fleming highlighted the partnership, saying, "The key to our success has been developing a fundamental shared mindset – we call it 'One Team.' Our shared absolute focus on ensuring we collectively deliver the desired business outcomes has been remarkable." Our partnership with Lenovo exemplifies the "One Team" mindset, delivering value through collaboration and innovation. This transformation has set global benchmarks, and we're proud to lead the way in retail technology. We were thrilled to present at the recent Victorian Transport Association - VTA Alternative Fuels Summit. It was great to showcase our advancements in sustainable energy solutions and how partnerships are important to us in industry's journey to net zero emissions. “This is about establishing an environment where each party accepts the early market risks in order to move forward. Our learnings have been that under a 3PL model, the key to making this work is having the infrastructure provider, hired carrier, and the end-customer all at the table to unlock the green solution. It’s tough to make this work if there is only one party pushing a decarbonisation initiative either up, or down the value chain,” said Rhys Moore, Viva Energy Australia’s Commercial Lead for the Hydrogen Project. Rhys provided an in-depth update on the hydrogen project currently under construction in Geelong, highlighting Viva Energy's significant progress in helping hard-to-transition industries to decarbonise, and the important role that partnerships play. We also shared insights from our renewable diesel trial with Cleanaway Waste Management, represented by their Head of Carbon, Taku Ide, and hosted by Viva Energy’s Carbon Solutions Manager, Robert Cavicchiolo. The results have been promising, demonstrating the potential of renewable diesel to reduce emissions and provide a viable alternative to traditional fuels and no changes to existing assets. “It’s through collaboration, such as this trial with Cleanaway, and dialogue that we drive progress in our decarbonisation journey,” said Robert. A big thank you to everyone who attended and engaged with us. Together, we are driving the future of alternative fuels! #AlternativeFuels #Hydrogen #RenewableDiesel
