Our Communication Adviser, Emma, who brings experience from her PR and events background in Paris, assisted 54 Reasons with organising the NAIDOC Junior Ball. From setting up the decor to ensuring a successful night, it was a wonderful night for Kununurra youth. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year's theme, “Keep the fire burning! Blak, Loud and Proud”, celebrates the unyielding spirit of our Indigenous communities. I encourage all Western Australians to learn more about First Nations cultures and histories this NAIDOC Week and participate in celebrations of the oldest continuous living cultures on earth.

Transformative Water Infrastructure Investments in Kimberley Communities 🚰 The Kimberley Development Commission is excited to share the remarkable progress made in water infrastructure upgrades across Aboriginal communities in our region. We feel committed to celebrating and sharing regional news and successes, led by the Cook Government. 🦾🧰Empowering Our Community Through Skill Development The Kimberley Development Commission is thrilled to share the success of the recent graduation ceremony organised by The Skill Engineer. Witnessing their young graduates, full of pride and confidence, ride out on their electric scooters is truly inspirational. Special congratulations to Kevin and Mya for winning the High Achiever Award, and to Trent for successfully transitioning into an apprenticeship.👏 The Skill Engineer, one of our Kimberley Community Action Fund (KCAF) grant recipients received $99,145 to provide vocational learning opportunities in horticulture, hair styling, music creation, metal sculpturing, and hospitality. These programs not only equip our young people with valuable skills but also provide engaging activities that help keep them on a positive path. This initiative aligns with our goals of creating engaging activities and safe spaces for young people and contributing to the overall well-being of our community. We are excited to see the positive impact these projects are having and look forward to continuing our efforts to build a safer and more empowered Kimberley. This landmark event marks the start of regular international services to our beautiful region. ✈️✨ The twice-weekly seasonal flights will operate from June to October, offering close to 13,000 low fare seats annually between Singapore and Broome. 📢 Funding Boost for Regional Arts Venues in the Kimberley 📢 We are pleased to share that the Shire of Broome - Broome Civic Centre and Warmun Art Centre Aboriginal Corporation have been awarded funding through the Regional Arts Venues Support (RAVS) program. The Broome Civic Centre's "See you at Civic" and Warmun Art Aboriginal Corporation's "Expanding and Enhancing Warmun Arts Centre's Annual Exhibition Program" will each receive $70,000 per annum until 2027. This significant investment will enable these venues to expand their annual programming, enhancing community engagement and promoting cultural tourism in the Kimberley region.
