🥳 The 10 Year Science and Technology Plan is officially released! On Wednesday 4 December 2024 the Hon Stephen Dawson, Minister for Science launched Western Australia's 10 Year Science and Technology Plan at QT Perth QT Hotels and Resorts. 100 guests from across government, academia and industry came together to celebrate this momentous occasion alongside the Minister for Science Hon Stephen Dawson and the Chief Scientist Peter Van Klinken AC. ✨ The Plan outlines a strategic vision to enhance the State’s scientific and technological capabilities to drive economic growth, societal well-being and environmental sustainability. 🧪 The Minister for Science acknowledged how the 10 Year Science and Technology Plan will help position Western Australia as a leader in research and development. 👨💼 🔬 The Chief Scientist praised the invaluable and often unrecognised work that government scientists do in service of the State and how vital they are for the future of WA. Over 80 education leaders and professionals came together at the Western Australia for Study ASEAN Roadshow in the Philippines to explore international education opportunities in WA! 📚 On Tuesday 3 December 2024, the Invest and Trade Western Australia’s Education Business Development Manager Nouva Daina Bersales brought together education agents and school stakeholders in Manila. Attendees were welcomed by Bryce Green, WA’s Investment and Trade Commissioner for ASEAN, and gained valuable insights about study in WA in a session led by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) Manila team and the Department of Home Affairs. 🏫 During the event, 8 of WA's leading education and training institutions showcased their diverse, high-quality programs and pathway opportunities designed for Filipino students. 🧑🤝🧑 Attendees participated in interactive activities to build networks and strengthen existing ones, while gaining valuable insights into tailored programs for international students. 🎓 The event provided attendees information on scholarship opportunities, such as the Western Australian Premier’s $50,000 University Scholarship. 🧑🎓 Celebrating our State's education excellence through the November Western Australia for Study ASEAN Roadshow to Vietnam! Led by Invest and Trade Western Australia’s Education Business Development Manager, Thuy Vo, education agents and school stakeholders came together in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Hanoi. The roadshow was a huge success, attracting over 110 education professionals and leaders, government representatives, and WA education institutions to enhance international education opportunities for WA. Highlights from the Vietnam events include: 🏫 Showcasing quality programs and pathway opportunities tailored for Vietnamese students from 17 leading WA education and training institutions. 🤝 Team building activities to strengthen partnerships and provide deeper insights into programs designed for international students to equip them with the essential skills needed for workforce success. 🧑💼 Dynamic sessions on the distinctive strengths of WA’s school programs while exploring future workforce demands, with a focus on green energy, health sciences, business analytics, tourism and hospitality. 🎓 Information about available scholarships including the Western Australian Premier’s $50,000 University Scholarship and the Western Australian Premier’s $20,000 Western Australia Certificate of Education (WACE) Bursary. 📚 🎓 Showcasing Western Australia as a premier study destination and strengthening global education ties. On 25 November, we welcomed international delegates from China as our fourth group to the State as part of the Western Australian Government’s 2024 International Education Familiarisation (Famil) Program. The delegation was led by Fu Chen, Education Business Development Manager from Invest and Trade Western Australia, based in Hangzhou, who was accompanied by a local tour operator, Two Feet & a Heartbeat | Tours | Guides | DMC. 4 representatives from leading Chinese education agents were welcomed by Alex King, Executive Director of Strategic Policy at JTSI. The delegates had a productive 5-day visit, and were able to: 📚 Meet with 12 WA international education and training providers, the School Curriculum and Standards Authority and StudyPerth, Western Australia. 🏫 Gain insights into WA’s educational pathway options including the vocational education and training (VET), English language courses (ELICOS) and school sector 🦘 Experience the WA lifestyle, including a taste of local produce, visit to Kings Park and Caversham Wildlife Park to feed the kangaroos 👨🏻🏫 Participate in a workshop to learn Aussie slang, gaining insight into the cultural adjustments many students need to make when studying in Australia 🤝🏻 Network to build connections and find opportunities for Chinese students looking to study in WA. 👩💻 Enhancing the capability and security of WA businesses in the digital era $6.6 million has been distributed to the Local Capability Fund (LCF) Digitial Transformation Round over 3 years. 🦾 The LCF assists small to medium enterprises (SMEs) in enhancing their business’s digital capabilities, competitiveness and capacity. The most recent LCF Digital Transformation round was extremely competitive, with 77 WA local businesses conditionally offered up to $25,000 in matched funding.
