Each day, City West Housing works to advance equitable and sustainable access to quality, affordable rental housing. Our third annual Impact Report highlights our efforts and progress on our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities. In September this year the Community Housing Industry Association, in conjunction with Housing Australia, published its first annual review consolidating the ESG data of the 14 community housing organisations who were early adopters of the new sector ESG reporting standard. As an early adopter, City West Housing is pleased to align our ESG reporting framework alongside the industry standard; and in so doing help enrich ESG reporting practices for the benefit of the communities which we collectively support. This week we celebrated a significant milestone for Boronia Apartments. The project team came together to enjoy a topping out ceremony at the site on Bourke Street, Waterloo. We're another step closer to delivering 74 apartments close to a range of community facilities, retail and Green Square and Waterloo stations for people on very low to moderate incomes. The topping out celebrated the achievements of City West Housing alongside Growthbuilt and other partners who have worked tirelessly to deliver the project to date. A tree was craned onto the roof slab to signify the topping out, followed by lunch to celebrate the team’s collective efforts. Boronia Apartments is expected to be completed and occupied by mid-2025. Apart from the 74 apartments to be delivered at our Boronia development in Waterloo, City West Housing has a pipeline of another close to 575 homes in the immediate area, all within a few kilometres. This forms part of our strategic commitment to develop more affordable housing in the inner south of Sydney. Strategically clustered around the stations at Green Square and upcoming Waterloo Metro, we will be transforming old commercial and industrial sites into quality, sustainable homes that are affordable for people who would otherwise struggle to live near where they work and close to transport and community infrastructure. #AffordableHousing #HousingSupply #BuildToRent #AffordableHomes

The Selection Panel has named the winner of the design competition for City West Housing's Bangalay Apartments project on Wyndham Street, Alexandria. Congratulations to EM BE CE, which was selected ahead of two others to win the commission! The competition sought innovative and solutions-focused proposals for a new 100% affordable housing development in the heart of the Botany Road Precinct, close to Waterloo Metro and Green Square train stations. The Selection Panel unanimously agreed that EM BE CE presented a compelling scheme that has the potential to achieve design excellence. The panel members felt that the design provided an innovative approach to the constraints of the site and was the most robust in concept. With construction well underway at our exciting new, high quality affordable housing development in Waterloo, we were pleased to welcome the Federal Minister for Housing and Homelessness, Clare O’Neil and representatives from Housing Australia to the site yesterday. The support of Housing Australia has contributed to and enabled us to build more homes for people on very low to moderate incomes, including essential workers. City West Housing worked with local, state and federal government to secure funding for Boronia Apartments which will deliver 74 energy efficient homes helping to address the pressing need for more affordable housing close to the city. City West Housing acknowledged R U OK? Day today by taking a break from work to decorate cupcakes! Staff inscribed the cupcakes with encouraging words to remind ourselves that there are people at work who will provide support and encouragement when we need it. We also received resources on how to start a conversation when checking in with our colleagues and to listen with an open mind. This was a fun activity that's also in line with our aim of fostering a workplace culture that promotes genuine connections, mental wellbeing, and support for one another. We're thrilled that City West Housing has been recognised by Xref with their Best Workplace Award for Employee Engagement! 🏆 At City West Housing, we have been working hard to foster an inclusive and supportive work environment. After all, inclusion and compassion feature as two of our organisational values. Staff engagement and wellbeing are key measures we track in our annual staff survey, with 'supporting our people' embedded as one of our key strategic priorities. When this year's survey asked our staff to list the three greatest strengths of City West Housing, our supportive, inclusive and values-driven culture was consistently mentioned.
