🌊 Exciting Developments in the Blue Economy! 🌊 The Biden-Harris Administration has announced the selection of four business accelerators to propel ocean innovation: 🚀 StartBlue Ocean Enterprise Accelerator Led by UC San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography and The Rady School of Management- Undergraduate Programs, this program supports the formation of advanced science and engineering startups addressing ocean-focused challenges. 🌊 gener8tor Great Lakes Resilience Accelerator Managed by gener8tor Management, LLC, this accelerator collaborates with partners such as Chain Reaction Innovations at Argonne National Laboratory, Current (a water innovation nonprofit), and Mazarine Ventures, a venture capital fund focused on water solutions. 🌐 VentureWell Ocean Enterprise Accelerator Operated by the NATIONAL COLLEGIATE INVENTORS & INNOVATORS ALLIANCE, INC. (dba VentureWell), this program is in the process of designing an accelerator to assist ocean-based climate resilience startups in overcoming commercialization challenges. ⚓ The Continuum A collaborative effort involving Tampa Bay Wave, Seaworthy Collective, St. Petersburg Innovation District, Braid Theory, University of South Florida, Ocean Exchange, and the World Ocean Council, this initiative aims to support ocean-focused startups and drive innovation in the blue economy. 🌊 Blue Week in Barcelona: Highlights from SOS & BlueFIN 2024 🌊 This year’s Sustainable Ocean Summit (SOS) and Global Blue Finance Summit brought together a vibrant global community advancing #BlueEconomy sustainability and finance. 🌍 Held in Barcelona, WOC’s HQ, these events kicked off a three-year partnership with the Barcelona Activa, Port de Barcelona , and Fira Barcelona. Integrated into the Tomorrow.BlueEconomy program, they aligned with Smart City Expo World Congress to amplify our collective mission of driving sustainable ocean initiatives worldwide. 🌐 🌟 Event Highlights The week started with two high-impact workshops. Great to hear more about #BlueGlue from Janelle Kellman, Esq. (She/Her) and The Center for Sea Rise Solutions and identify opportunities to connect ports, communities and industry in collaborative solutions. I am excited to see how expansion of the concepts to the Southern Med might carry lessons for the Gulf States.

Congratulations to NEOM's #OXAGON, Regional CEO VishalWanchoo, and Managing Director of the Port Sean Kelly for their progress in expanding NEOM's #BlueEconomy. Oxagon’s Port expansion targets 1.5 million TEUs by 2026 and is already operational, accepting about 1,000 vessels this year: Saudi Arabia has allocated 15 billion riyals ($4 billion) for the port, which serves both Oxagon and The Line’s construction needs.
