Building resilient communities in our context means creating jobs, fighting mental health and drug abuse among women, men and youths means creating jobs for them, ZimbosAbantu Healthcare on Wheels this is what we are doing. Providing health to the underserved expecting donor or funders to meet that expense is not sustainable in the longterm, we have taken it upon ourselves to capacitate men and women alike, under our Earn and Live Healthy Lives initiative. Yesterday, we enabled the start of employment for 10 male youths and 20 women, in one of Zimbabwe's informal settlements. Next Generation of ZimbosAbantu Healthcare on Wheels mobile clinics. What started at our CEO Tawanda M. 's back yard home garage, as a demo unit, locally built mobile clinic back in February 2021, is taking organic growth steps to go being fairly carbon neutral, we learned from a vital cog, piece of feedback from EEP Africa Chiedza Mazaiwana that our current mobile units are not fully carbon neutral. With the investment from Swiss Re @Swiss RE Foundation's Entrepreneur Resilience Award https://lnkd.in/dYCcpQCC , We have just been enabled to achieve that i.e. more energy efficient mobile units. In commemoration of #InternationalDayOfTheGirl, I hosted H.E. Rumbie Magwere, 🇿🇼UNICEF Girl Take Over guest, acting as Day Ambassador of Canada. Rumbie confidently took over the 🇨🇦Ambassador’s chair, met embassy staff and, alongside me, attended an event by #ZimbosAbantu, a local partner of Canada providing mobile clinic services to young mothers & pregnant teens in Zimbabwe. While we work to prevent teen pregnancies and early marriages, the young girls already facing these situations need our support. Ambassador Rumbie and I chatted with several teenage mothers and clinic staff to learn about their day-to-day and offer encouragement. At 15 (a year younger than my twin daughters!), Rumbie is informed, passionate, eloquent and as bright as the future ahead of her. Thank you Rumbie, UNICEF Zimbabwe, ZimbosAbantu and Canadian Embassy staff for a well-organized and inspiring day at work. ——-///——///——///—--///—- Dans le cadre de la #JournéeInternationaleDeLaFille, j’ai accueilli S.E. Rumbie Magwere, sélectionnée par UNICEF🇿🇼 et agissant comme Ambassadrice du Canada pour la journée. Rumbie a vite pris le contrôle de mon bureau, fait connaissance avec notre personnel et ensuite participé à mes côtés à un événement de #ZimbosAbantu, un partenaire local du Canada qui offre des services de cliniques mobiles à des adolescentes mères ou enceintes à travers le Zimbabwe. Alors qu’on travaille à prévenir les marriages précoces et les grossesses d’adolescentes, les jeunes filles qui se trouvent déjà dans ces situations ont besoin de notre appui. Ambassadrice Rumbie et moi avons d’ailleurs rencontré plusieurs jeunes mères et des membres du personnel de la clinique pour apprendre de leur vie de tous les jours et les encourager. À 15 ans (un an de moins que mes filles jumelles!), Rumbie est informée, passionnée, éloquente, et aussi brillante que l’avenir qu’elle a devant elle. The 2024 #InternationalDayfortheGirlChild prompted me to ponder the obstacles encountered by the girl child and explore ways to make a positive impact. With a passion for #technology, I am inclined to contribute towards narrowing the #digitaldivide.
