  • Story of Grace: A Path to Healing and Hope Sebastian, a 20-year-old male from Gqeberha, is currently participating in the Restoration from Addiction through Discipleship programme at MES Gqeberha. Before joining MES, Sebastian struggled with drug addiction from a very young age. His addiction led him to steal from his mother, small shops and even strangers, causing immense strain on his family and causing him to lash out at others. Under the influence of drugs, he lost control of his actions and hurt those around him. Sebastian first learned about MES through a friend who referred him when he sought help. Upon his arrival at MES, he received immediate support from a member of staff, who welcomed him to the programme. Here Sebastian received counseling sessions from a social worker, which helped him come to terms with his painful past and begin his journey to healing. He also built a relationship with God through the Restoration programme, guided by Pastor Ronny. The services Sebastian received had a profound impact on his life. He can now talk about his past without the overwhelming emotions that once made it difficult to share his story. Through the life skills programmes, he learned how to manage his anger and communicate more effectively with others. One of the highlights of his journey was developing a relationship with God, something he never had before, and he believes that only God can truly save us. Sebastian is excited to complete the final integration phase. He currently works at a mushroom farm in Gqeberha. Looking ahead, Sebastian plans to deepen his relationship with God, work for Him and return to school to pursue a qualification. His goal is to make his family proud. "MES changed my life in a magnificent way, and I would recommend the programme 100%" - Sebastian #MouldEmpowerServe #MESGqeberha #StoryofGrace #RAD

  • RSG (Radio Sonder Grense) and Virseker Insurance recently wrapped up their “Bakgat” rusk competition, which unexpectedly evolved into a powerful display of generosity, benefiting communities across South Africa. By declaring November 13th as National Rusk Day, the event attracted thousands of bakers from across the country, eager to demonstrate their expertise and contribute to celebrating local baking talent. This initiative not only emphasized creativity but also cultivated a strong sense of community and goodwill, as RSG and Virseker turned the competition into a meaningful act of charity. Thousands of rusks were delivered which comes as a welcomed gift during our annual Packaged Love Campaign. Thank you RSG, RSG listeners and Virseker! 🎄🍪 #MouldEmpowerServe #CommunityImpact #PackagedLove2024 #DeliverYourLove

  • The Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg is officially done and dusted! 🚴♂️ The Joshua Youth Leadership team represented MES and cycled for their education, and what an incredible experience it was! As some of the Joshuas shared, tackling those hills and slopes was no easy feat, but they did it! MES is incredibly proud of everyone who participated and crossed the finish line. With the sun shining, bikes zooming downhill, and riders pacing themselves uphill, it truly was an unforgettable day. A special thank you to our generous donors Airgro (Pty) Ltd and Warren Henning for sponsoring our MES Joshuas' Ride Joburg experience. Your support made all the difference! • Sowing Seeds of Knowledge: MES Bellville Work Readiness beneficiaries Get Hands-On Gardening Experience. On October 23rd, 2024, the EnviroCon Training Specialist Company did Agricultural & Environmental Skills Development Training through a one-day garden workshop at the MES (Mould Empower Serve) Bellville Safe Space. The training provided valuable expertise and support to our Work Readiness team. The workshop was part of a broader initiative following EnviroCon’s assistance in applying for an AgriSETA grant and securing learnerships Plant Production (A level 1 internship) for our Work Readiness beneficiaries for 2025.   Thirteen of our Work Readiness programme beneficiaries participated in the workshop. They acquired practical skills which they can utilize in our MES garden and in their own spaces, this has taught them the value of gardening. EnviroCon’s experienced trainers Esti Du Toit and Ayakha Tshayingwe led the group through various aspects of gardening, from understanding the different types of gardens to essential techniques such as plant propagation skills. Learners explored both sexual and asexual methods, where they utilized cuttings from Portulacaria afra, commonly known as Spekboom, a popular, eco-friendly species. “All the learners demonstrated genuine interest in the program and showcased remarkable teamwork. What's more, I had the opportunity to learn valuable insights from each of them, highlighting the workshop's significance in fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing and growth. The collective energy and dedication made the day truly unforgettable.’ said Ayakha. Three of our attendees have already applied for the Plant Production internship, with several more expressing interest. This is a testament to the impact of the workshop, which equipped participants with the knowledge and confidence to explore opportunities in the agricultural sector. After a quick lunch break, everyone headed outside to put their newfound knowledge to the test. Participants planted crop seedlings supplied by EnviroCon, which included a variety of seeds such as peppers, spinach, and beets to name a few. The heat from the sun did not slow the team down as they all wanted to contribute to the crop plantation. MES Work Readiness will continue to develop areas of interest such as agriculture to open doors for our clients in the future. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of Envirocon, the Greater Tygerberg Partnership and Call2Care, this workshop has not only shared valuable knowledge but has also sown seeds of hope and inspiration for ongoing growth and positive impact. #MouldEmpowerServe #MESCapeTown #WorkReadiness #CommunityImpact #MESPartnerships
