The Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment & IT (EBIT) celebrated International Day of Women and Girls in Science this year. Natalie Hanekom, a master’s degree student in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering (EECE), is not one to let being a woman stand in the way of achieving her dream. By utilising speech enhancement signal processing, she wants to improve people’s quality of life by improving their auditory communication experiences. As the top student in the EECE in 2023, she has decided to continue her postgraduate studies in electronic engineering within the Department’s Bioengineering Group. Robot race day is an annual race hosted by the University of Pretoria (UP) Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering (EECE). The race involves Microcontroller-based Autonomous Robotic Vehicles (MARVs) built by teams of third-year students who compete against one another to complete the track in the shortest possible time. This year’s Race day was held on the 1st of June 2024 and was a great success. https://lnkd.in/d_uk9g4 Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment & IT #UP #engineering #electricalengineering #computerengineering #electronicengineering #eece #innovation #research #postgraduatestudies #robotraceday #marv #ebit

The Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering hosted its first annual final year Farewell function at Tuks Monate on Friday 11 October 2024. The function started with 3 speakers (Prof Ian Craig, Dr Leon Staphorst, PhD and Mr Baraka Masinde) providing their own personal experience about postgraduate and what it meant for their careers. Final years then had the opportunity to engage with the different research groups within the department, while enjoying some drinks and snacks. Photo evidence suggests that these students enjoyed it quite a lot! https://lnkd.in/eNeCmBuP Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment & IT #UP #engineering #electricalengineering #computerengineering #electronicengineering #eece #innovation #research #postgraduatestudies #farewell
