The annual South African Telecommunications, Networking and Applications Conference (SATNAC 2024) was held in Skukuza, Kruger National Park from 6-9 October 2024. One of  The Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering students, Marchant Fourie, won the Best Paper award entitled "Automated crocodile detection using deep learning and synthetic data", co-authored by Prof Herman Myburgh and Dr Allan de Freitas.
