Animal Habitats
What is an Animal?
 Animals lives in different
places where they can rest
and stay. They stay in places
where they can grow and
become many.
What is Habitat?
 A habitat is a place where animals
or plants live.
Where they get food, water and
shelter.
Two types
of
Habitat
Terrestrial Habitat
 include deserts, forests, grasslands and polar areas.
Animals that live entirely on land like cats, dogs, and
monkeys are terrestrial animals. They show a wide
range of adaptations and includes the strong,
muscled legs and the soft but strong paw pads.
Deserts
 In deserts place we all know that is hot there, dry
regions with very minimal water and it easily
evaporates. Plants and animals are very few in the
desert.
 Desert Animals are nocturnal: they sleep during the
day and hunt at night when the desert is cool.
Grassland
 are wide area of land mainly covered by grasses and few
trees. Examples of animals lives in this grassland are
cows, carabaos, horse, rabbit, giraffe, chicken and duck.
Forest
 Forest is an area with many trees, shrubs, and vines.
Forest are valuable to humans because they provide
sources. It provides habitats for different organisms. Boar,
monkey, snake and owl are examples of animals live in
the forest.
Arctic and Antartic
 Arctic and Antartic are very cold places where snow is on
the ground most of the year. It is found in the northern
part of Europe, Asia and North America.
 Animals that inhabit these regions have to be well-
adapted to cold and often have a thick layer of fat or
blubber to keep them warm. Examples of animals lives
here are the Polar bears, penguins and arctic fox.
Aquatic Habitat
Aquatic habitats is a habitat with
water. It includes areas that are
permanently covered by water and
surrounding areas that are
occasionally covered by water
Fresh Water
 Freshwater habitats have higher oxygen levels than the seas
and oceans. There are plenty of freshwater animals like frogs,
crabs, shrimps, turtles, and tadpoles. Fishes such as Catfish
are very common freshwater habitats.
Examples: Frog, shrimp, tadpole, crab, turtle, crocodile, and
catfish
Marine
 are habitats that support marine life. Marine life
depends in some way on the saltwater that is in the
sea. Examples of animals in this Marine habitats are
jelly fish, star fish, sea urchin, squid, crab, cuttlefish
and humpback whale.
- Why do we need to take good
care of the animals?

- What do you think we should

do to protect the habitat of
animals?
