In the previous lesson, you learned how living

organisms
constantly interact with the kind of
environment they have. Biotic and abiotic
components in the environment interact and
depend with one another. Their relationship
may cause either beneficial or harmful
interactions in the environment called
ecosystem. These interactions can greatly
affect the way they live and move in their

B
J
E At the end of this module
C you will be able to:
T
I 1. describe the effects of
interactions among organisms in
V their environment; and
E 2. infer the possible effects of
s interactions shown in situations
presented.
A. Directions: Arrange the following jumbled
letters to form the hidden words. Write your
answers on your notebook.

1. LAHRMFU–
2. BINEFILECA–
3. EECFTFS–
4. SIGORAMSIN–
5. NITRECATONI–
C. Directions: Write beneficial if the effect being
described in the following interactions among
organisms is good and harmful if it is not.
Write your answers on your notebook.

_____1. aphids on the flowers

_____2. a heron feeding on a carabao’s body
_____3. too many fishes inside a small
aquarium
_____4. orchids attached on a tree trunk
_____5. cattle being attacked by lioness
Direction: Arrange the jumbled letters to get the correct word described in each
statement. Write your answer on the space provided.
1. To protect animals from elements and from predators, they need________
(TERSHEL).
2. To provide energy and nutrients necessary for the body to perform life functions,
______(DOOF) is needed.
3. To provide oxygen needed for chemical process that releases energy from food,
animals need_______(RAI).
4. To avoid starvation and disease due to overcrowded areas, animals should be
provided with enough________ (CESPA).
5. The basic need used by almost all living things to transports nutrients and wastes in
the body and to help keep their body temperature constant is ________ (REWAT).
Look at this picture. Observe the different
organisms like plants and animals. Do these
animals live alone, or do they have contact with
one another?
In most ecosystems, different species of
organisms interact with each other. These
interactions help the population to survive. They
also help the ecosystem where they live.
Ecologists, or scientists who study the
relationships of
organisms with their environments, classify these
relationships in terms of how they benefit or
harm the species of organisms involved in the
interactions. Beneficial interaction is an interaction
wherein one or both organism is benefited while
In order to survive,
living things need to
interact with each
other. They also need to
interact with nonliving
components of their
environment, like air,
water, and soil. These
living and
nonliving components
form a dynamic
community called
ecosystem.
ACTIVITY 2: Direction: Draw a happy face ☺ if the situation
shows beneficial interaction and sad face if not.
________1. Man takes care of plants. Plants give off oxygen and
provide food for man.
________2. Loggers cut trees for lumber.
________3. Dog is being fed by the owner. The dog guards the
house.
________4. Doctors and nurses take care of Covid-19 patients. Their
health is at risk.
________5. Scavengers look through trash for aluminum to sell.
Dumpsite owners are unaffected.
“Infer the Possible Effects”
Directions: From the given interactions among organisms
below,
infer the possible effects of each interaction in the
environment?
Write your answer on your notebook.

1. overcrowded plants in a small pot -

______________________
2. bug feeding on a leaf of plant -
__________________________
3. insects and flower - __________________________
DRAW ME.

Garden is an example of an ecosystem. Organisms interact

with one another in this type of ecosystem. Draw your own
growing garden and describe the relationships that are
beneficial and harmful and explain why this relationship
exist.
