Introduction of thesis :
A study and design based topic which is also stationed on the idea of probing the past, present pros and cons of the topical expanse and the
neighborhood to enhance the quality of life by the mending of spaces, thereby providing a better living environment.

Background and History :

Population flock to urban centers in search of work, higher education, etc which leads to urban sprawl.
High-rise mixed-use development offer solutions by maximizing the number of people that can live and work on a scarce, fixed amount of
available land area.
The increasing demand for urban spaces pushes the environment to grow compact and vertical.
The traditional front-lawn housing concepts are being rearranged vertically leading to the formation of the concept of skyscrapers.
For the ever growing cities, the construction of high-rise buildings could not be stopped as the demand increases day by day.
This leads to the necessity of high-rise, high-density mixed-use developments.

Aim :

Objectives :
To provide a range of housing that are affordable to households of varying fiscal capacity, including low, moderate income households.
To provide households that have sufficient space, privacy and are pertinent to the needs.
To offer housing choice by providing housing of different types, sizes, locations in the proposed expanse.
To provide adoptable housing that can respond to the altering needs of the residents.
To transform the area into a vibrant, multi-modal, mixed-use district that supports the added on densities of people and balance their live and
work liberty.
To provide housing in a way, that it contributes to the sustainability of communities and is compatible with the idea of Environmental
sustainability, preserving the Predominant character of the area.
To provide sufficient landscape and recreation Facilities.
To create a mix of uses that relate to and
complement each other through site design.

Vasant Kunj Mixed-use Development | New Delhi
• Designed in 1993

• Spread over 60 Acres / along 1.25 km length

• RKA was selected by Delhi Development Authority to prepare the master plan for the mixed-use development of one of its most prominent
location in New Delhi; Vasant Kunj.

The prestigious project conceptualized & designed in 1993 includes the development of a 60 acre, 1.25 Km long stretch of land. RKA’s
master plan creatively develops this  rocky terrain into a much required, vibrant, social and commercial hub for the heart of South Delhi.

A variety of interesting materials, massing, textures & colors is foreseen to give each part of the Vasant Kunj Mall project a unique identity.

At the heart of this urban project is a dramatic central public space, one of the most spectacular outdoor spaces in South Delhi. Connected to
the space through skylit atriums & streets are the various shopping & office developments, expressed in disparate yet controlled
architectural vocabulary.

The mixed use development includes the Grand Hyatt Hotel, corporate office buildings, large shopping facilities including indoor shopping
malls, Entertainment Centres, food courts & residential apartments.

The design scheme was highly appreciated by the DDA & the Delhi Urban Arts Commission. The project guidelines and detailed
Infrastructure planning were done in 1998 & services laid on site subsequently.

 4. NATIONAL INSTITUE OF PHARMACEUTICAL EDUCATION AND RESEARCH
Introduction :

• National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) are the national
• level institutes in pharmaceutical sciences.

• The Government of India has declared NIPER as an 'Institute of National Importance'.

• It is an autonomous body set up under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals,

• Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, India.

Background and History :

• This Is First National Level Institution For Pharmaceutical Education.

• There Are Only Seven Niper Institute In India, Located At Bihar, Guwhati , Punjab , Gujarat , Uttar Pradesh, Telengana , west Bengal.

Objectives :

To create a sustainability environment and to facilitate the high standard of education.

To design for the comfortability of students, faculty, and researchers.
To organize spaces by studying the user activities .
To arrange the open spaces related to build form.
To develop national institute for pharmaceutical education in South India, which helps to impart quality education and also boost invention of
medicines from south India.
To develop a design by understanding the infrastructural needs in pharmaceutical colleges.
Scope :

The scope of this thesis project is to build NIPER to impart quality education for students and to differentiate the design from other existing
NIPER by using passive cooling technique to bring out sustainability.

Justification Of Site :

The design is proposed in Hosur, Tamilnadu

REGIONAL CONNECTIVITY: Hosur is the junction point for three states – Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamilnadu. It is 35 km from Bangalore, and
270 km from Kerala, because of this students and manufacturing units in these states will be benefitted more from NIPER.

CLIMATIC CONDITIONS: Hosur always experience Tropical savanna climate, due to its high elevation (879 m), it enjoys moderate climate all
throughout the year with occasional heatwaves.
Temperature of the place doesn’t go below than 12° C in winter and do not exceeds more than 35°C in summer, this climatic conditions helps to
achieve my special study –passive cooling.

NATURAL RESOURCES: Out of seven NIPER, four is presented in the Himalayan regions i.e. Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Assam, because
of availability of raw materials, in South India Western Ghats also has the potential to fulfil the requirements of raw material.

FUTURE PROPOSALS :

• GOVERNMENT OF INDIA HAS PLANNED TO PROPOSE THREE MORE

NIPER IN MAHARASHTRA, ANDHRA,TELENGANA.

• THE PRECISE SITE LOCATION IS NOT YET FREZZED STILL.

• THE MAJOR REASON TO SELECT THE AREAS IS TO PROVIDE

SUPPORT AND TO HAVE CONTROL OF NEW INSTITUTIONS BY
OLD ONES
