Introduction :
Touch panel technologies are a key theme in current digital devices . A
major factor driving the spread of touch panels is the benefits they offer in
the way of intuitive operation. Since they can be used for input through
direct contact with icons and buttons, they're easy to understand and easily
used, even by people unaccustomed to using computers.
Use of a specialized computer GUI in which traditional GUI elements are
replaced by intuitive, everyday objects .
Typically the surface is a touch-sensitive screen, though other surface types
like non-flat three-dimensional objects have been implemented as well.

The hardware used to develop this device is firstly the screen which a
rectangle shaped touch screen for the display of the outputs, it is also a
multi touch supportable screen, Infrared rays for transfer of the data, the
central processing unit called the main part of the device which acts as the
brain of the system, Projector to display the results to all the people present
during the experiment .
STATEMENT ABOUT THE PROBLEM :

• The objective of this Project is to develop/evolve a graphic intensive touch

technology that can be used in many fields as being economic .
• Commanding any graphical user interface by a Glass Panel as an input device
enabled with Some Sensors and Camera .
• Graphic Intensive UI which is cost-efficient with the needs of customers.

EXISTING PROBLEM :

• Cost of the OLED screen is too high , as customers have to pay according to
screen high
• May be few years down the line , our body can be transformed into a virtual
mouse, keyboards and body may be turned into a input device
• Ultimately these technologies build relationship with customers and relationship
creates brands..
Objectives and Scope of the Project :
• Here we will try to make a touch enabled frame allowing every non –touch device a
touch enabled feature.
• Touch glass refers to the touch screen hardware setup itself.
• MultiTouch(+20) ,Holograph, Kinetic offer new possibility for interaction .
User friendliness provided in the application with various controls
Increasing Human Interaction with Machines

Hardware and Software Used :

CAMERA : PH3i
IR LED : 5mm
GLASS : 78*50(cm)
BUTTER PAPER : 78*50(cm)
SOFTWARE : PYTHON API, EMBEDDED C , WINDOWS
CAPABILITY : WORKS ON ANY GUI AS AN INPUT DEVICE
PRINCIPLES/CONCEPTS OF PROJECT :
The basic idea described in the project is that there would be sensors arrayed
around the perimeter of the device capable of sensing finger movements in 2d as
well as in 3d space

SURFACE COMPUTING:
A form of computing that offers “natural way of
Of interacting with the machine rather than traditional .

Surface Computing Typically includes Three Key attributes:

Direct Interaction
Multi-Touch
Object Recognition

Infrared Light Touchscreen : It basically relies on the interrupation of an IR light grid

in front of the display screen .The touch frame contains a row of IR-light emitting
diodes (LEDs) and photo transistor ,each mounted on two opposite sides to create a
grid of invisible infrared light .
The IR controller sequentially pulses the LEDs to create a grid of invisible IR light
beams . when a stylus , such as finger , enter the grid ,it obstructs the beams One or
more photo transistors from each axis detect the absence of light and transmit signals
that identifies the x and y coordinates .
WORKING :
The system is capable of detecting movements in 3 dimension with your fingers
as input device on the screen.
Sensors are mounted on the frame the screen that is being used, by interacting the
line - of- sight of these sensors the motion is detected and interpreted into on-
screen movements .
INTERACTION METHODS
 TWO DIMENSIONAL  THREE DIMENSIONAL
Typically, traditional surface Using depth aware cameras it is
types are two-dimensional and possible to make three
only require two-dimensional dimensional gestures. Such
touch interactions. Depending gestures allow the user to move
on the system, multi-touch in three dimensions of space
gestures, such as pinch to zoom, without having to come into
are supported. These gestures contact with the surface itself,
allow the user to manipulate such as the methods used
what they see on the surface by in DepthTouch. DepthTouch
physically touching it and makes use of a depth-sensing
moving their fingers across the camera, a projector, desktop
surface. For sufficiently large computer, and a vertical screen
surfaces, multi-touch gestures for the user to interact with
can extend to both hands, and
even multiple sets of hands in
multi-user application
Flat Surface
Computing

Surface computing employs the use of two broad categories of

surface types, flat and non-flat. The distinction is made not
only due to the physical dimensions of the surfaces, but also
the methods of interaction.
APPLICATIONS AND CONCLUSION

CAN BE USED IN FOLLOWING WAYS :

 Front Projected Touch Screens
 Rear Projected Touch Screens
 Interactive Whiteboard
 Large Video Walls
 Interactive Flors
 In-Air invisible Touch Screen

RESEARCH & DEVLOPMENT : On building user defined gestures that are

used in surface computing that makes the graphical representation more
intuitive.

CONCLUSION : These ideas and Technologies for Consumer Electronics is

that they’re all about to come to market over the next years.
They’ll transform the shape, size , Performance and functionality of
everything we touch ,and use in a new world .
