Good morning Ma’am Mag-aso, good morning classmates

We are the group 5 and today we will be representing our report about Temperature.
Joelliana: hi my name is Joelliana Andrea Jaleco
Ligaya: and I am Alexandra Denise Ligaya
Joelliana: and to start everything up on our report we will be showing you guys the definition
of temperature. But before explaining the definition I would like to here your own ideas about
the definition of temperature. Does anyone have any idea?
Two options:
 Thank you for your answer
 No one? Okay let us explain to you what is meant by the word temperature

Ligaya: Temperature is a physical quantity that expresses quantitatively the perceptions of

hotness and coldness. It also refers to a measure of the warmth or coldness of an object or
substance with reference to some standard value.
Joelliana: In specific terms temperature is the degree of hotness or coldness measured on a definite
scale. Which is the thermometer. In the metric system temperature is measured by the unit of Celsius
and in the English system the unit Fahrenheit is used.
Ligaya: Fahrenheit temperature scale is based on 32◦ for the freezing point of water and 212◦ for the
boiling point of water. It is an English system unit and came from Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit who is a
German scientist in Poland.
Joelliana: Celsius, also called centigrade, scale based on 0◦ for the freezing point of water and 100◦
for the boiling point of water. It is invented in 1742 by the Swedish astronomer Anders Celsius.

Joelliana and Ligaya: And that is the definition of temperature, Celsius and Fahrenheit.

Tingson: now that we all understand the meaning of temperature allow me and my partner
Wilmer Andrei Tabujara to show you the unit of conversion table in temperature.
Wilmer: firstly, temperature has 3 common units which is Celsius(◦C), Fahrenheit (◦F), Kelvin
(K) and we will show you the conversion table of these units.
Tingson: we have here the conversion table of these units to what they are equal to when
converted, starting to the basics and those are the basic conversion of units Celsius and
Fahrenheit in measurement.
 This is how you read it:
- 100 degree Celsius is equal to 212 degrees Fahrenheit and it is also the boiling point of water.
- 37 degree Celsius is equal to 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit which is the normal body temperature
Wilmer:
- 21 degree Celsius is equal to 70 degrees Fahrenheit and it is the room temperature
- 0 degree Celsius is equal to 32 degrees Fahrenheit and is the freezing point of water
- -40 degree Celsius is equivalent to -40 Fahrenheit and it is when Celsius and Fahrenheit match

Tingson: And those are the basic conversion of units Celsius and Fahrenheit in the conversion
table.
Wilmer: we also have here a more specific and complete conversion table of units of
temperature

Clay: this is an automatic thermometer it is an instrument that is used to measure

temperature. It can measure the temperature of a solid such as food, a liquid such as water, or
gas such as air
Agag: when measuring you can put this thermometer in your underarm and wait until it beeps
and it will automatically show your temperature
*put the thermometer in the underarm of clay*
Agag: as we can see here clay has a temperature of ( iya temperature ) Celsius

Bella: this is how we convert temperature from the units Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin.
Firstly we are going to show you how to convert fahrenheit into Celsius , first we are going to
use the formula Fahrenheit to Celsius= (◦F – 32 ) ÷ 1.8 and the estimate Estimate formula
=( ◦F- 30) ÷2
1) 95◦F = ( ◦F – 32 ) ÷1.8 2) 17◦F =( ◦F – 32 ) ÷ 1.8
( 95- 32 ) ÷1.8 ( 17 – 32)÷ 1.8
=63 ÷1.8 =35◦ C = -15 ÷1.8 = -8.3 … ◦C
Estimate: (◦F – 30) ÷2 Estimate: ( ◦F – 30) ÷2
(95 – 30) ÷2 = ( 17- 30) ÷2
=65 ÷2= 32.5 ◦C = -13 ÷ 2 = - 6.5◦ C
EXPLANATION ( belle):
In number one the first thing we have to do is write the formula that we are going to use so
degrees fahrenheit minus 32 divided by one and eight tens and we are going to write the
degrees fahrenheit that we want to convert so 95 minus 32 divided by one and eight tens and
now that we are ready to solve we are going to start with 95 minus 32 which will give us 63
and bring down the division sign and the one and eight tens so it will give us 63 divided by one
and eight tens and that’s going to give us the answer of 35 degree Celsius so it will turn out to
be 95 degree Fahrenheit is equals to 35 degree Celsius. And to estimate if our answer is
correct we can use the formula of degrees fahrenheit minus 30 divided by 2 so it will become
95 minus 30 divided by 2 and 95 minus 30 is 65 and 65 divided by 2 is 32 and a half or 32 and 5
tens and that is degree Celsius so that will be our answer.
And for number 2 we will do the same thing and start by rewriting our formula which is
degrees Fahrenheit minus 32 divided by one and eight tens then we will write 17 minus 32
divided by one and eight tens then we plug in 17 minus 32 divided by one and eight tens and
we will start by subtracting 17 and 32 which will give us a negative 15 and then divide it by one
and eight tens which gives us a negative 8 and three repeating and that would be in degree
Celsius so 17 degree fahrenheit is equal to negative 8 and three repeating degree Celsius or we
can round that to the nearest whole degree which would be negative 8 degree Celsius. While
for our estimation we’ll use the formula here which is degree fahrenheit minus 30 divided by 2
so we will have 17 minus 30 which is negative -13, and negative 13 divided by 2 gives us a
anwser of negative 6 and 5 tens degrees Celsius and it has a pretty close value to the exact
conversion.
Obero: now let me explain how to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit by using the formula
(◦C ×1.8) + 32 and the formula of estimate which is (◦C × 2) + 30
Explanation:
In number one we have 14 degrees Celsius so we will rewrite the formula first which is degrees
Celsius multiplied by one and eight tens plus 32 so we need to put in what we are given so it
will be 14 degrees Celsius times one and eight tens plus 32 so we’ll start by multiplying 14 and
1 and 8 tens which will give us 25 and 2 tens (25.2) then we add 32 so 25 and 2 tens plus 32
is going to give us a answer of 57 and 2 tens degrees fahrenheit and now for the estimation we
can use degree Celsius times 2 plus 30 (◦c × 2) + 30 so for number one it will be 14 degree
Celsius times 2 which is twenty eight plus 30 is 58 and our answer in the estimation is pretty
close to our answer in conversion.
Unto number 2 where we have 29 degree Celsius so first write the formula and then change
the degree Celsius to what we have given which will be 29 degree Celsius times one and eigth
tens plus 32 so 29 times 1 and 8 tens will give us the answer of 52 and 2 tens plus 32 which will
make it 84 and two tens degree Fahrenheit now we know that 29◦C is equal to 84 and 2 tens
degrees fahrenheit and now for the estimation we will be using the same formula which is
degree Celsius times 2 plus 30 now we have to plug in the given so it will be 29 times 2 plus 30
so 29 times 2 is 58 plus 30 is 88 degree fahrenheit based on our estimates and we can notice
that the estimation formula gives us a close answer to the exact conversion.
Celsius to Fahrenheit
(◦C ×1.8) + 32 and the formula of estimate which is (◦C × 2) + 30
1) 14◦C = (◦C ×1.8) + 32 2) 29◦C = (◦C × 1.8) + 32
(14 × 1.8) + 32 (29 × 1.8) + 32
=25.2 + 32 = 57.2 ◦F =52.2 + 32 =84.2 ◦F
Estimate: Estimate:
(14 × 2) + 30 (29× 2) + 30
=28+30 = 58◦F = 58 + 30=88◦F

Fahrenheit to Celsius
1) 95◦F = ( ◦F – 32 ) ÷1.8 2) 17◦F =( ◦F – 32 ) ÷ 1.8
( 95- 32 ) ÷1.8 ( 17 – 32)÷ 1.8
=63 ÷1.8 =35◦ C = -15 ÷1.8 = -8.3 … ◦C
Estimate: (◦F – 30) ÷2 Estimate: ( ◦F – 30) ÷2
(95 – 30) ÷2 = ( 17- 30) ÷2
=65 ÷2= 32.5 ◦C = -13 ÷ 2 = - 6.5◦ C
