1 When PCis is heated, it gasifies followed by dissociation into PClh and Cl2. The density of gas mixture at
particular temperature is 81. Find the degree of dissociation of PCIs at this temperature.
2. 3.0g nitrogen tetraoxide gives total pressure of 3.0 atm after partial dissociation at equilibrium in a 500 mL
glass vessel at 25°C. Calculate the degree of dissociation at this temperature.
3 For the reaction; CO(g) + 2Hz(g) CH,OH(g)
hydrogen gas is introduced into a five litre flask at 327°C, containing 0.2 mole of CO(g) and a catalyst, until
the pressure is 4.92 atm. At this point 0.1 mole of CH,OH(g) is formed. Calcualte the equilibrium constant, K
and Ke.

4 For equilibriumAB+C+ D, the equilibrium constant ke is 100. Calculate the degree of dissociation
and equilibrium concentration of A, B, C and D. Reaction was started with 1 mole of A.

5. Show that for the reaction AB(g) A(g) + B(g), the total pressure at which AB is 50% dissociated is
numerically equal to three times of Kp
6. n mole of PCla and n mole Cl, are allowed to react at constant temperature T under a total pressure P, as
PCl, (g) + Ch(g) PCls (9) .If y-mole of PCls are formed at equilibrium, find K.

7. For the reaction, NH,(g)

Show that degree of dissociation of NH3 is given as
T2
1.3v3 p

where 'p' is equilibrium pressure. If K, of the above reaction is 78.1 atm at 400°C, calculate Ke.
8. Variation of equilibrium constant K with temperature T is given by van't Hoff equation,
AH
logK = log A- 2.303 RT
A
graph between log Kand T was a straight line as shown in the figure and having 0 = tan (0.5) and OP =

(B) A (pre-exponential factor),
(C) Equilibrium constant K, at 298 K,
(D) Kat 798 K if AH° is independent of temperature.

4PH, (9) P.(9) + 6H, (g)
Calculate the vapour density of phosphine, if it dissociates to the extent of 40%.

2NO, (g).The total pressure at equilbrium was found to be 9.15 bar. Calculate Kc, Kp and partial pressure at
equilibrium.
11 n mole each of Hz0, Hz and Ozg are mixed at a suitable high temperature to attain the equilibrium
2H,0 2H2+02. Ify mole of H,0 are dissociated and the totalpressure maintained is P, calculate Kp

12 Consider the equilibrium : LiCI.3NHg(s) LICI.NH3(s) +2NHa(9) with Kp =9 atm at 40°C. A5 litre flask
contains 0.1 mol of LiCLNH,. How many moles of N Ha should be added to the flask at this temperature to
drive the backward reaction practically to completion?
13 At 1200°C, the following equilibrium is established between chlorine atoms and molecules
Ch(g) 2Cl(g)
The composition of the equilitbrium mixture may be determined by measuring the rate of effusion of the
mixture through a pin-hole. It is found that at 1200°C and 1 atm pressure the mixture effuses 1.16 times as
fast as krypton effuses under the same condition. Calculate the equilibrium constant Kc.
14 When 3.06 g of solid NH, HS is introduced into a two litre evacuated flask at 27°C, 30% of the solid
decomposes into gaseous ammonia and hydrogen sulphide. (i) Calculate K and K, for the reaction at 27°C.
() What would happen to the equilibrium when more solid NH, HS is introduced into the flask?
