Change of State

1. Introduction:

• Matter can exist in different states: solid, liquid, or gas.

• Changes in temperature and pressure can cause matter to change

from one state to another.

2. States of Matter:

• Solid: Particles are closely packed together and have a fixed shape
and volume.

• Liquid: Particles are still close together but can move past each
other, taking the shape of the container they are in.

• Gas: Particles are far apart and move freely, filling the entire volume
of their container.

3. Change of State:

• Melting: when solid turns into a liquid

• Freezing: when liquid turns into a solid

• Evaporation: when a liquid turns into a gas

• Condensation: when a gas turns into a liquid

• Solidifying: when liquid turns into a solid
