Replacement of the instrument panel assembly, or framework assembly (with printed circuit)
Vehicles of the “Series Brasil”, with semi-advanced cabin (1218; 1418 and 1620)
The present instruction aims to orientate the rework that will necessarily have to be carried out in the above men-
tioned vehicles, at the time of an eventual replacement of the “ instrument panel assembly”, or “framework
assembly + printed circuit” (see Involved Components).
The necessity of the referred rework results from the modifications which have been introduced in the printed cir-
cuit of the mentioned components.
INVOLVED COMPONENTS
Component nº (*) Denomination
695 540 70 48 Instrument panel assembly, with tachograph
695 540 71 48 Instrument panel assembly, with speed indicator
000 542 47 56 Framework assembly + printed circuit (applied with tachograph)
000 542 48 56 Framework assembly + printed circuit (applied with speed índicator)
(*) - In spite of the modifications introduced in the printed circuit, the number of these components
remained unaltered.
INVOLVED VEHICLES
(To be reworked, in case of an eventual replacement of the components mentioned before)
• Vehicles with chassis of final nº inferior to ...145039, equipped with tachograph and having an instrument
panel assembly produced before the week 41/97.
• Vehicles with chassis of final nº inferior to ...120434, equipped with speed counter and having an instru-
ment panel assembly produced before the week 23/97.
NOTE:
The production date of the components can be checked through the label fixed to the framework, immediately
above the code of bars and identified as “DATE CODE ______”.
The weeks are counted in sequence, starting from Jan/97.
Examples:
- The week 23/97 corresponds to the first week of Jun/97.
- The week 41/97 corresponds to the second week of Oct/97.
ATTENTION!
Before starting the intervention in the vehicle, make sure that all the necessary safety measures have been taken,
as mentioned in the “S.I. - Service and Safety - Gr.: 00 - Nº: 01/91”, mainly conerning the disconnection of the
battery cables.
PROCEDURES
• Apply the terminal Nº 364 545 70 26 in one of the extremities of the black electrical wire (additional) and
connect it to the position 24/11 of the instrument panel connector. Take the wire to the electric central of
the vehicle (see fig. 02).
Obs.:
The wire must follow the vehicle electrical harness, until the electric central.
• Install a connector Nº 682 546 73 41 in the other extremity of the same wire (black) and connect it to the
black/blue wire, proceeding from the position 9/6 of the relay K7 (flashing light) (see fig. 02 - detail A).
• Disconnect the blue/gray wire from the relay K7 (flashing light) (see fig. 01 - detail A) and remove the termi-
nal. Then, apply a connector 682 546 73 41 and connect it to the black/gray wire proceeding from the relay
K7 position 9/8 (see fig. 02 - detail A).
• Apply a connector Nº 682 546 73 41 to one of the blue wire (additional) extremities and connect it to the
blue wire proceeding from the position 24/23 of the instrument panel connector (see fig. 02). Then, take
the wire to the vehicle electric central and apply a terminal 376 545 73 28.
Obs.:
The wire must follow the vehicle electrical harness, until the electric central.
• In another bit of blue wire (additional), apply a connector 682 546 73 41 and connect it to the blue/white
wire proceeding from the position 24/24 of the instrument panel connector (see fig. 02). In the same way,
take it to the vehicle electric central and apply a terminal 376 545 73 28.
• Connect the two terminals, applied to the extremities of the two blue wires (additional) taken to the electric
central, to the base for diodes Nº 695 548 71 18.
The terminals must be connected to the position (1) of the base for diodes (see fig. 03), observing the diode
polarity (see fig.02 - detail B and fig. 03).
• Install the diode in the base for diodes and then fasten it to the base support.
• After reworking the base support (removal of both fastening edges, as indicated on fig. 03), fasten it in the
vehicle electric central.
