INTRODUCTION

This chapter discuss about the context of the problem, the

statement of the problem, the purpose and description, the

objectives of the project, its scope and limitation and the

significance of the study.

Project Context

Effective health scheduling is essential for ensuring that

patients receive timely and appropriate care. It can help reduce

wait times, minimize errors and improve overall efficiency of

healthcare delivery. Health scheduling system are often used to

automate and streamline the scheduling process, making it easier

for healthcare provides to manage their appointments and for

patients to access the care they need.

The study of Barangay Gines Viejo Health scheduling system

aims to address the issue of long wait times and difficulty in

scheduling appointments in the barangay health center. The

problem has been observe to cause inconvenience and delays for

patients, resulting in reduced access to healthcare services and

increased frustration for both patients and staff.

The study proposes the implementation of an online

scheduling system that allows patients to book appointments

through a website. The online system will enable patients to

schedule appointments at their convenience and reduce the burden

on the barangay health center staff, who can spend more time

attending to patients needs rather than answering phone calls and

scheduling appointments.

The proposed solution also includes the implementation of an

automated reminder system to reduce the number of missed

appointments and improve patient attendance. This system will

send automated reminders to patients via email or text message,

reminding them of their scheduled appointments and prompting them

to confirm or cancel if needed.

Objectives of the Study

General Objectives

This study aims to develop a system of the barangay Gines

Viejo, making it more efficient and convenient for both the

patients and healthcare providers and to evaluate its

acceptability.

Specific objectives

1. design a system for Barangay Gines Viejo Health Scheduling

System

2. determine its acceptability in terms of its usability

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

The scope of the study of Barangay Gines Viejo Health

scheduling system includes an exploration of the current

scheduling system used in the Barangay Gines Viejo Health Center.

The study aims to identify potential areas for improvement in the

scheduling system that will enhance the delivery of healthcare

services to the community.

However, the study has some delimitations as well. First,

the study will focus solely on the scheduling system used in the

Barangay Gines Viejo Health Center and will not include an

assessment of other healthcare facilities in the barangay.

Second, the study will not include an evaluation of the clinical

quality of healthcare services provided by the health center.

Finally, the study will be limited to the data and information

available during the time of the study, which is subject to

change over time.

Significance of the Study

This Barangay Gines Viejo Health Scheduling System will

benefit the following:

Healthcare providers. The study can help healthcare

providers in the Barangay Gines Viejo Health Center to streamline

the scheduling process, reduce waiting times, and improve the

overall delivery of healthcare services.

Patients. The study can benefit patients by improving the

efficiency and effectiveness of the scheduling system, resulting

in reduced waiting times, improved access to healthcare services,

and better patient outcomes.

Barangay officials. The study can provide valuable insights

to Barangay officials in the management of healthcare facilities

in the barangay.

Future researchers. The study can also benefit future

researchers by providing a basis for further research on

healthcare delivery and scheduling systems. The study can

contribute to the knowledge base on healthcare scheduling system

and can be used as a reference for future studies in similar

contexts.

Definition of Terms

This Barangay Gines Viejo Health Scheduling System will

benefit the following:

Healthcare scheduling system. Is known to simplify workflows and

save time for the administrative staff at hospitals. Such a

solution helps them do more with the same resources and improve

the patient experience.( https://www.google.com/)

In this study, system use to manage the scheduling and

allocation of healthcare resources, including patient

appointments, healthcare provider schedules, and medical

equipment and supplies.

Healthcare provider. A healthcare provider is a person or entity

that provides medical care or treatment. Healthcare providers

include doctors, nurse practitioners, midwives, radiologists,

labs, hospitals, urgent care clinics, medical supply companies,

and other professionals, facilities, and businesses that provide

such services.( https://www.google.com/)

In this study, a person or entity that provides healthcare

services to patients, such as doctors, nurses, or medical

facilities.

Patient flow. The movement of patients through a healthcare

facility. It involves the medical care, physical resources, and

internal systems needed to get patients from the point of

admission to the point of discharge while maintaining quality and

patient/provider satisfaction. ( https://www.google.com/)

In this study, the movement of patients through the

healthcare system, from initial contact with the healthcare

provider to the completion of treatment.

Resource allocation. The assignment of available resources to

various uses. In the context of an entire economy, resources can

be allocated by various means, such as markets, or planning.(

https://www.google.com/)

In this study, the process of distributing and allocating

resources, such as staff, equipment, and supplies, to meet the

demand for healthcare services.

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the project development, project

requirement specification, and project design of the system.

Project Development

SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT LIFE CYCLE

Figure 1. SDLC Agile Model

Here are the steps of the SDLC that will applied to the

development of the Barangay Gines Viejo Health Scheduling System:

Planning. This stage involves gathering requirements,

defining the objectives and scope of the project, and creating a

project plan.

Requirement Analysis. In this stage, the system requirements

are analyze and documented. This involves studying the existing

processes and identifying areas that will be

improved, determining the functional and non-functional

requirements, and defining the data that needs to be captured.

Design. The design stage involves creating a detail design

of the system. This will be involve designing the user interface,

database design, system architecture, and integration with other

systems.

Deployment. In this stage, the team deploys the system to

the production environment. The team also provides training and

support to end-users.

Testing. In this stage, the team performs functional,

performance, and acceptance testing. The team also addresses any

bugs and issues that arise during the testing phase.

Maintenance. Once the system is deployed, it will need to be

maintained to ensure its continued operation. This could involve

providing technical support, fixing bugs, and updating the

software to meet changing requirements.

Coding. Refers to the process of creating software or

applications using a programming language.
