Chapter 1. Application Range

Cytotoxic Safety Cabinet is a negative pressure filter ventilation cabinet to protect personnel,
products and environment. The inflow air can protect the personnel and vertical down-flow air is
filtrated by HEPA/ULPA to protect products. Contaminative air is filtrated by HEPA (ULPA) to
protect environment. When it is used for microbiological experiment of minim volatility toxic
chemical or trace radionuclide, it should be equipped with suitable exhaust hood.

Chapter 3. Performance Index

This product complies with YY0569-2005 "biological safety cabinets" standard, the standard
requirements of the performance are as follows:
1.Biological Safety performance：
Personnel safety: the microorganism germ falls≤5CFU/time
Product safety: the microorganism germ falls≤5CFU/time
Cross contamination safety: the microorganism germ falls≤2CFU/time

2. Leak proof：
Safety cabinet pressurized to 500Pa, the air pressure is more than 450Pa after remaining 30
minutes.

6. Mechanism performance
Biological Safety cabinet is designed and structured to resist overturning or distortion caused by
outside force, and deflexibility caused by overloading on the operation panel and tipping caused
by overworking.
The core part of work surface can stand pressure (≤23 Kg) without permanent distortion.

Chapter 4. Features
1.LCD Crystal display

Liquid Crystal Display: Place liquid crystal among two parallel glasses, there are many vertical
and horizontal tiny wires among the two glasses. The principle is mainly through power on or not
to control the crystal molecules to change directions so as to reflect the light and create images.
The LCD display is low power consumption, no electromagnetic radiation and its working life
could reach 100,000 hours.

The LCD display technology adopted by us could directly reflect the working conditions of the
equipment, such as the effective working status of the filter. This makes more intuitive sense to
the operator.
2. Remote Control
It is inconvenient for the users to operate from a distance. In order to solve this problem, the
biological safety cabinets are equipped with remote control. The remote control is with small
volume （thickness 7mm）and light weight （only 18g）and could flexibly control all the functions
of the cabinet within the range of before the cabinets 6m, 30°.The users could carry around for
operation. The remote control adopts Japan NEC special chips for remote control which are

featured with better anti-jamming performance, longer control distance and better control
precision. (Check picture 2)

3. Control of the electric glass window

The front glass window is electric controlled easily by remote control, foot switch and control
panel. No need to touch the glass window. The motor of the glass window is special reversible
motor with speed controller, the features of the motor: precise speed control, big start torque,
works smoothly, etc.
4. The application of reservation timing
Biological safety cabinet is equipped with special ultraviolet germicidal lamps.When ultraviolet
germicidal lamps is turned on at least 30 minutes, the sterilizing can be achieved .Meanwhile,
boot up the safety cabinet ,let the cabinet work for 30 minutes , then, start proceeding normal
experimental operation with the steady airflow. In order to solve the process of waiting for boot
up or shutdown, the safety cabinet was increased with peculiar booking timing function. It could
shutdown at specific time after sterilization, book boot up fan operation or booking boot up
ultraviolet radiation sterilization, setting time limits between 10 minutes and 99hours and 50

minutes. Owing to it , our staff work efficiency has been increased.

5.Structure
1. The left, right, bottom and back sides of cytotoxic Safety Cabinet are negative pressure wind
channel, which forms air curtain and case isolation between operation area and outside
environment. 2.Meanwhile, the operation area is surrounded by negative pressure, which prevents
the leak of products.
3.1.5mm thickness of cold rolling steel sheet is used in the cabinet body to increase the intensity
of frame .And the cabinet is more stable with actual net vibration ≤5m.
4.The working area and inside of the device are made of stainless steel, beautiful and
anticorrosive.
5.The base cabinet is made of cold rolling steel sheet and coated with paint.
6. The control panel adopts touch type power switch, easy operation and pretty appearance.

6. Caution and warning

Digital display of pressure difference, digital velocity display, electronic warning system.
The alarming situations are as follows:
1. Glass windows ultra-high alarm: when the current window height is more than setting
height( 200mm), the equipment will issue voice alarm, and the LCD starts to blink .Now you
need to adjust the front window to the setting height.
2. Filter pressure differential warning: If the air filter of supply and exhaust can’t reach to the
stipulate requirement, the equipment will issue a voice warning to inform user of changing the
filter for user’s security.

2. Equipments

Front glass window driving system consists of the motor, front glass window, drive mechanism
and limit switch.
2.Ai r Fi l t eri n g S yste m
Air filtering system is the main system to ensure the performance of the equipment. It consists of
fan, air supply filter and exhaust air filter. The main function of air filtering system is to push
clean air into work room continuously and ensure the clean air speed, clean class in work room
and clean class of the exhausted air could meet the filed standard.
3.UV Light Source
UV lamp located at the inner side of the work room and could fully ensure the maximum lighting

in the working zone and ensure fully sterilizing.

Light source use H type power saving fluorescent lamp and ensure the average illumination in the
work room could meet the file standard.

(1) LCD display window
The output part of Human-equipment exchange, which we can understand the state of equipment
and performance.
(2) Remote-control receive window
This window receive the order from remote control
(3) Press button lightly
The key point of Human-equipment exchange is to operate the equipment through light-touch.
When Remote control is out of work, this equipment can achieve the basically functions by the
button.
Power Button: POWER, in addition to reservation, in control of the other switch;
Light button: LIGHT, is the key to control the lamp lighting. Press every time, the state of LCD
and the lamp correspondingly change. That is, the light turn on to off or turns off to on.
Sterilization Button: UV, the ultraviolet lamp controls switch. The state of LCD and the lamp
correspondingly change. That is, the light turn on to off or turns off to on.The key acts only when
the glass window closed.
Fan Control Button: FAN, in control of the fan working condition. Press every time, the state of
LCD and the lamp correspondingly change. The button cannot act when the glass window closed.
Socket: SOCKET, is the control button of socket working situation. Every time you press it, on /
off situation and the relevant indication situation on LCD display will change.
Glass Window up Button: UP, press up button sustaining, the glass window rises .To height of
200mm or releasing the button, the glass window immediately stops. Press again and the glass
window rises again.
Glass Window down Button: DOWN. Keep pressing the down button, the glass window will go
down until 200mm to the bottom or you release the button. The glass window will continue going
down when you press the button again.
Mute button: MUTE. The alarm will stop when you press this button, and will continue if you
press again.
There are 8 usually-used buttons on the operational board. Reservation and timing function should
be operated by the remote control. Button existed on both operational board and the remote control
has the same function.
7. Air duct
Ventilation vent of pressure difference sensor.
User must not block this ventilation vent, and nothing should be hanged on this device.
8. Power lock
When power cord is connected with electricity, unlock power lock with key, and device starts to
work.
9. Remote control
(1) Sub
a. Plug in, open the power lock and press the Sub button.
b. Adjust time (10-50 minutes) by button “+”, “—“ and press the button “confirm”; adjust time
(1-99 hours) with the same method.
c. Select function by the function button (eg. UV) after assuring time, and the corresponding light
point will light up.
d. Press button ‘Power’, start the reserve function. When the timer count down to zero, the
reserved function will start.
(2) Install Timer
a. Plug in power, open the power lock, and press the button ‘Power’. Then, press the other function
button (e.g‘UV’) and the device shows the corresponding function.
b. Press ‘Install Timer’, set the minutes digits by pressing button ‘+’ and ’-’ (10-50mins), and press
‘Confirm’. Set the hours digits by pressing button ‘+’ and ’-’ (1-99 hrs) and press ‘Confirm’.
c. After the time being set, the install timer start working. When the timer count down to zero, the
device will shut down all the functions and stand by.
(3).Other buttons are similar to the control panel. For the function, please refer to the ‘Button press
lightly’ section
10. Water-proof socket
There is a water proof socket at the right side of working space; it can supply power to the
equipment in the working space. The users control the power of the water-proof socket by pressing

the SOCKET button.

1． The power from the water-proof socket is no more than 500w.

2． Only under the condition of putting front cover of the water-proof socket down, it

can prevent water. If the front cover was open, it can not prevent water.
11. Fuse tube

Two F10A φ5 × 30 mm are the power fuses of this device and blower, Other two F5A φ5 × 20
mm are the fuses of water proof socket, all of them are located on top of decoration board on right
side of body. Each of them are specific tagged.

Chapter 7.Installation and Usage Instruction

. The pretreatment before installation

1) Inspecting the package carefully to see whether it have been broken.
2) Before unpacking, the cabinet should be moved to the place near the using point

4. Unpack and Transportation

The cabinet must not be inversion during transportation. Forbid to topple over and
dismantle the cabinet.
a、 the cabinet and base cabinet

1. Location
The biological safety cabinet should be placed at the airflow protection area. This could prevent
the cabinet from being affected by another airflow made by the ventilation system, air condition,
door, windows and the people’s movement. The test show that if the interrupting airflow exceeds
the inflow of the biological safety cabinet, the infection air of the room will enter into the work

area. So the installation point is very important. The relation between the exhaust air and the
ventilation system or exhaust pipe should also be noticed. The cabinet exhaust from the top, so it
should prevent something blocking the air outlet. The cabinet should be put at the downstream of
the airflow .All sides of the cabinet must retain 300mm spare space for the inspection
conveniently.

2. O p erati on In stru cti on

1. Connecting the Power, AC 110V, 60Hz
2. turn on the power lock, the LCD display will be bright. At the same time, the cabinet will say：
welcome to use BIOBASE Biological Safety Cabinets.
3. When you press the “Power” button, the follow function could work: the “Light”, “UV”,
“Blower”, “mute”, “Socket”, “Up”, “Down” and “Timing”. “reserve ”must be operate before
pressing button of power.

When the front window up or any other button work, the UV could not action
6. Before you work, close the front window and turn on the UV light to sterilization for more than
half an hour.

1) While sterilizing, everybody should leave the room to protect the eyes and skin.
2) According to the manufacture’s standard, the intensity of the UV should be test regularly. We
suggest one time per quarter, if not up to the standard, it should be changed.
7. The operator could do experiment after the blower working for half an hour when the glasss
window is 200mm open.
8. The use the remote control follow the introduction of functions and structure (remote
control)
9. in order to keep safety, please put the materials into the cabinet before you do the test; when you
do some test, please keep the glass window open 200mm.
9. After experiment, close the front window and turn on the UV light to sterilize for half an hour.
Then turn off the power.

 Chapter 6.Maintenance
The operability and safety can be guaranteed, only when check and maintenance is done by
competent people and unit.
 Please cut off the power supply before maintenance
 The statistics of working time will affect the necessity of maintenance, we advice
that a detailed report of operation hour should be available for reference and
inquiry.

2. Recommended maintenance methods

1. Surface Cleaning
1) Stainless steel:
Non-working zone: Wipe the whole surface with the soft paper soaked by liquid soap. Then wipe
again by another cloth or towel soaked in hot clean water. Clean the soap on surface with dry cloth
or towel.
Working zone: Clean the polluted or dirty surface, collecting slot with alcohol for pharmaceutical
purposes.

The disinfectant shouldn’t corrode the 304 stainless steel.

2) Exterior Coating: Using soft cloth or towel to clean it by any non-abrasive family-used cleaner.
2. Daily and weekly cleanliness
1) Clean and sterilize the working zone.
2) Clean and sterilize the control panel.
3) Clean the exterior surface and front window with Soft detergent or glass-dedicated detergent.
4) Testing all functions of the equipment.
5) Keep report.
3.Monthly Cleaning
1) Clean the whole exterior surface with detergent.
2) Sterilize the operation table board and interior surface (The filter frame is not included), interior

of observing window with 70% alcohol or 1:100 dilute domestic bleacher (i.e.0.05% Clorox).
After cleaning with bleacher, use sterile water to clean it again.
3) Check all functions of the equipment, and check the security of it in the regular use.
4) Keep report.
4.Annual Service
Make a comprehensive check to the safety of cabinet and maintenance.
1) Checking the driving device of the front panel to see its elasticity
2) Checking the UV lamp and fluorescent lamp
3) Apply for test of its integrity annually to make sure its safety. The user should pay for the test .

3. Repair

1. The preparation work before repairing.

Make sure the equipment connect to the ground well in order to secure the safety during work.
Check whether there are any cable disconnect, short circuit or damage, if any mentioned condition
occurred, solve the problem one by one.

1) All operations above must be done by qualified electrician under safety condition
(cut power supply). Not allowed to dismantle any other parts of the machine,
otherwise the users should be responsible for all the consequences.
2) When the equipment has any fault which not be mentioned above, and the
operator cannot solve the problem, please notice our repair department. For
safety reason, do not repair by yourself.
3) The repairing work shall only be done by the persons trained or authorized by us.
4) To order the parts, please tell our technology department and notice the model
and type of the cabinet you bought.

 Chapter 7.Notes
1. Before connecting to AC power supply, make sure the power have stable and same voltage
as the cabinet, the rated load is no less than required. The cabinet uses ground type plug,
this plug have 3 wires which only matches 3 wire power sockets, it is a safety device. If
the plug cannot be inserted in the socket, change the socket to match the plug.
2. Move Slowly: in order to prevent circuit condition from being effected, operators should
keep the airflow complete when moving arms inside the cabinet, the arms should move
vertically and slowly. The arms should stay in the cabinet for 1 minute to let the air flows
above the surface of arms before any experiment. All materials involved in the experiment
should been put in the cabinet before experiment as much as possible to reduce the times
that arms pass through the window.
3. The principle of material moving: if any two or more items need to be moved, must obey
the rule that only move lower polluted materials to higher polluted area, in order to avoid
the pollution in wide area caused by highly polluted material. Meanwhile the movement of
any material must be slow.
4. Horizontal position of materials: in order to prevent materials from cross contamination,
all materials should be put in a straight line horizontally, to avoid cross contamination
during the reverse air flow and to avoid blocking the back of the reverse air flow grill.
5. During the using of equipment, do not put soft and small materials (e.g. tissue) on the
surface, to avoid being sucked into suction ventilator or block the pipe and effecting the
equipment operating.
6. The maximum weight of material inside the cabinet should no more than 23kg.

7. Avoid shaking: Use shaking devices ( e.g. centrifuge, shaking mixer) as less as possible,
because the shake may shake off the particulates in the filter and reduce the cleanliness of
the working zone. Meanwhile, operators may be contaminated if they lost balance at the
front panel.

8. Forbidden fire: Any open flame is forbidden in the cabinet！The open flame may disturb
the air flow and damage the filter. If a high temperature sterilizing is required during the
experiment, we strongly recommend the infrared ray sterilizer.

9. HEPA filter and its use life: With the filter’s age increases, gathering of dust and germs in

 the filter will lead to pressure drop in HEPA filter. Contact us to change the HEPA filter
when the air pressure alarm rings; otherwise it will decrease the safety class of the cabinet.
The old filter should be disposed as biohazard waste.

10.The air blower and the steel plate underneath is the cabinet cover, the door at the back is
wind tube baffle. The wind tube had strict air tightness treatment at the factory .To keep
the tightness, operators should not loose or remove the screws, for special request, contact
our after sale department for repairing.

11.The barrier close to front window on the table is designed for air intake and discharging
pollution as well, a discharging port is under the table; during the use of cabinet, do not
block the grizzly screen, otherwise it may disturb the air flow. Armrest is recommended to
solve this problem and extend the tired period of operator’s arms.

12.Cross contamination may occur when cabinet is used for a long time (HEPA filter, cabinet
angle), in order to reduce the pollution of biological safety cabinet, we recommend
sterilize the cabinet every 500 hours by formalin sterilizer, then use fumigation sterilizer to
clean inside of the cabinet. During the sterilizing, keep the sterilizing air inside the cabinet
and avoid leaking out of the cabinet.

13.The storage period of cabinet is one year. After the storage period, the cabinet should be
opened and examined by our technician to qualify the safety.

DECLAREATION: we declare that we are not responsible for any risk or damage
caused by irregular operation.

 Guarantee
 The guarantee period is 12 mo nths, start from the purchasing

date (exclude the lights or fuse prot ector).

 We don’t undertake the maintenance of the damage or run out

which is caused by the wrong operation of user in the guarantee

period.

 After the guarantee period. The repair from our company will

be charged reasonable.

 We could provide the drawing and necessary technical data to

the maintenance unit and maintenance personnel approved by

us.
